5 star joke. I’ve lived in Greece for 8 years and aware, or puzzled, how the star system works. Unfortunately this hotel definitely doesn’t fit into the category of 5 stars. Grounds are lovely to be fair. Well maintained and beautifully landscaped.
Deluxe room is basic but ok, for this price you can’t expect palace. Biggest complaint is that it’s absolutely freezing and only a/c heating. Unacceptable for a mountain’s hotel with no control from the room. You have to call reception to put it on. Don’t risk your life walking barefoot on the floor either, unless walking on ice is your passion. Coffee machine is louder than the rocket engine and works at its own mood.
Sleeping well is also not an option. The emergency light is so strong (see the photo) that there’s no escape from it. It will keep you awake all night.
The service, starting from reception, left me speechless. It looked like the girls at reception were just passing by and decided to work as receptionist for a day or two without any previous experience.
Hotel advertising itself as a SPA hotel. With beautiful inside swimming pools and other facilities. But nobody mentions that the swimming pool and sauna are so tiny that you have to book your spot well in advance since it can only accommodate 2-3 people at the time.
We also couldn’t enjoy any massage despite the fact that the place was virtually...
Read moreThe Hotel is a straight A as it concerns the service, facilities and breakfast! It really has the best breakfast we have ever had, promoting traditional products and tastes of Mani. All the staff was extremely kind and helpful and always there to help you every second!|The holel is beautifully structured to match the environment and in full accordance with its surroundings. It is in a very small distance from Mystras castletown, which definetely worth the visit and other mountain activities. A very nice near village to visit also, is Tripi, also close to the hotel.|The room was very good -we booked a premium 4-bedded room-just one thing was a little disappointing; as the room is accomodated with old fashioned style, the bathroom was a little "old". Meaning, we would rather prefer a more modern bathroom with waterfall shower, instead of classic bathtab with faucets, which were not very easy to regulate the water flow from hot to cold. Also, we expected a small welcome treat in the room, which we didn't have. I mean for its price, you could expect at least that, since we always have this in other cheaper hotels.|Anyway, those are only 2 negative details, but afterall experience was great and definetely...
Read moreThe Mystras Grand Palace is a 4 Star Country Club masquerading as a 5 star resort. The property is currently run for the benefit of local daily entry clientele and friends and family. There is a distinct lack of international guests which no doubt has impacted on their model/offer. Staff are friendly and helpful but management are clueless on how to run a 5 star property. Management and staff sharing and enjoying the pool and cafe/restaurant facilities with guests is something I have never seen at any other 5 star hotels. Another example is where we were locked out of our room with the automatic door failing and no master key available. The General Manager, Duty Manager and front desk were unable to locate a master key or open the door. Eventually the CEO of the hotel was tracked down and he was able to open our door. There is a very 'relaxed' atmosphere with regards to the day to day running of the resort that made it have a Country Club feel rather than a 5 star resort. The property itself it good and has potential with more professional management in place and/or a licensing agreement with an...
