I dont like to give low ranking but in this case I have now choice.|To start with - there are two showers, but the one on the ground floor is extra tiny maybe 50×50 cm. You cant turn around in this shower or bend. Also the shower upstairs is only slightly bigger. The water pressure is low - so we had a very bad showering experience throughout the stay.|Secondly, the stairs are extra steep and dangerous. My daughter slid on them. Our neighbours were a family with a grandfather. He couldn't go up or down the stairs so he was forced to sleep on the sofa in the living room.||On top of that we had an electricity buz during our stay coming from the electricity board in the kitchen. Is was sometimes extra laud that you can hear all over the villa - this was not ok for the staff - sometimes you can hear it only on the ground floor- this is ok for the staff - not acceptable to me.||In addition we had a load noise in the room on the bottom floor for two evenings- apparantly due to a pumping related issue that needed drain.||And..one morning we were woken by the gardners before 9 AM - very early in Kala Nera way of living - then when we had our breakfast on the porch- 3 gardners were trimming grass and bushes around us - which forced us back in the room.||Also - you get very little in the room - tiolet paper is filled only once every 3 days. We needed to ask for more. No coffee in the room e.g||Most of the above was known by the management in resl time - we got only small gestures of compensation at the end - drinks by the pool and farewell cheese pie - but this was very far from a real comparison pn the totalling events of our stay.||Kala Nera is very nice and I highly recommend staying at this beach, just in a...
Read morewe were 3 people and booked for 10 days Overall opinion: Overpriced for location, amenities, services Cleaning: below average (we had to put the same milk stained glass 3 times at the sink for the housekeeper to wash) due to Covid, we paid extra for the breakfast option and even though we were informed that everything would be packaged and sealed, coffee was not. when we asked for more filter coffee (the open pack had 2 portions in it) and some additional breakfast items, we got them. Once again the coffee was open with another 2 portions left. -the 3rd time we asked for coffee from the housekeeper, she informed us that she was told by the owner that she should not have brought anything and we should have rationalized better!! the one day the housekeeper had a day off, noone came by, not even to check on our toilet paper supply, which she did not fill the previous day. when the pool area was half full with people (due to Covid measures) we were advised to sit in another poolside area with chairs. However, while seated there, we were not "allowed" to go into the pool, not because of Covid but not to get the pool furniture wet!!! one early afternoon around 3.00 the girl from the pool cafe came to the house to ask if we would use the pool (which would close at 8). She mentioned that the previous day noone came by so if we decided not to go she would close the whole area and leave. So we were asked to decide then and there, even though the pool was scheduled to be open until 8 in all signs and the website.
All in all a really bad example of hospitality, which makes you wonder whether the people that run these places have ever been to any other facility in...
Read moreWe had a week here - booked with Ionian and Aegean holidays in the UK. The villas are quite small but well appointed and spotless- serviced by staff daily. Nice welcome pack greets you on arrival with water, milk, bread, sweets and a bottle of wine. ||Pool and bar area is lovely with towels provided. Again very clean and well maintained.||The staff are very friendly and helpful, they genuinely can’t do enough for you. ||Bar area has cold beer, wine and a great selection of children’s drinks and ice creams. Some very nice snacks - such as the very generous club sandwiches. Slightly more expensive than the local tavernas- but not ridiculously so. ||There are 11 villas- so sometimes the pool area can get busy but we frequently had the pool to ourselves. Just a question of timing. ||It’s a 3 minute walk to the sea- you can stroll down for a morning swim in the crystal clear water. There’s a nice bakery along the sea front- amazing croissants and doughnuts. Plus loads of various tavernas with seating right next to the sea. I’ll review some of those separately- but all were generally nice.||We also did a boat trip - boat sails from the small pier in the town. That was brilliant and worth the money. ||Also worth the drive across the mountains to the other side of the Pelion peninsula- Damouchari is a beautiful spot and some nice beaches there too. Tight roads and steep hills so go steady. ||Overall we had a lovely week. The Greek people are naturally very hospitable and take genuine pride in this. The villa provides a great base and we would definitely visit again. ||You won’t regret a visit...
