It's a 4 star hotel run by a family. Grigoris was the one who checked us in and helped us with directions and everything we needed. He was really friendly, willing to help, smiling all the time. Although the restaurant wasn't operating, his mother took the time to make us a pizza, both of the nights we asked for something to eat. We really appreciated that. The room was beautiful and the view from our windows and balcony was breathtaking. They cleaned the room every day, something not so common in other 4 stats I have visited.
Downsides: The room was cold the time we got there (September). When we asked the elderly man at the reception (probably Grigoris's father, or another member of the family business) how to heat the room, he said there is no heating at the moment (probably because they don't consider this time of the year cold, but still...it was 19 degrees inside the room). When we asked if we can light the fireplace, he said he didn't have wood.
There was no toothbrush or toothpaste in the room. Again, I asked the elderly man for some toothpaste and he said they didn't buy any. I told him that we would like some until the night, since it's a 4 stat hotel and they should have some, but he didn't seem to care (since our toothpaste never came, and he didn't explicitly say that they were not going to give us). And last but not least, the same man kept smoking inside the lobby area, which is an inside, closed space, something not only irritating (it's not nice to eat your pizza while someone is smoking on the other side of the room), but also illegal.
I am giving 4 stars and not less, because Grigoris and his mother really cared about us and helped us have as a lovely experience as possible. It would be 5 stars if not for the...
Read moreVery beautiful, peaceful place. The rooms were clean, but if you want one more bedsheet in case it's dirty or smth, they don't have spare ones... we reserved one double and one other room with 2 floors for 4 people. Very comfortable but no AC. They had small TV inside of the rooms which i think they should remove because the place is so beautiful that no one will come to watch TV. ❤️the staff is kind and professional. They also have nice breakfast area with balcony, the only thing I suggest to hotel management is to change the way they serve breakfast-they bring many things to you individually, i pity the food because they don't know how much you'll eat. Better to have choosing options from the table, not to waste food. But everything was clean and delicious. Coffee was...
Read moreNice hotel with mediocre breakfast and a very rude & arrogant owner. We stayed in a room where the bathroom ventilation was not working. The owner told us that he would immediately attend to it. Second day it was the same so we told him that the next day we would leave. He became very rude and instead of apologising for the inconvenience he claimed that there was nothing wrong with the room... When something goes wrong it's the attitude that matters and this guy has a terrible one.. A textbook example of how NOT to run a business. There are many very nice hotels in the area with friendly people so we will definitely not came back to Athina hotel and we will inform friends who visit the area...
