Hotel Gil Town — Hotel in Poptún

The hotel is basic, & there are better options in the area.

Our biggest complaints is the fact that the shower didn’t work, so we couldn’t shower when we woke up. When we asked for a resolution, the front desk refused, saying that we should have complained the night before.

We don’t shower at night, we shower in the morning so we didn’t discover the problem untill the morning. We were very disappointed that there was no concern for the problems or quality of their hotel.

In addition, the pool was out of commission the night before. A hotel with water problems is very undesirable. Especially when there is no concern for quality...

We are visiting from Australia and cycling across Central America. We wanted a quiet and comfortable hotel. This was a 5 star hotel for us. The location was not important as we were only staying for one night and we ate in the hotel restaurant which was excellent . Hotel check in staff were friendly and helpful. Room was quiet and next to the nice pool and we were able to take our bikes into the room for safe storage. Good air con in the room and plenty of hot water. Good value accommodation....

I ate at the restaurant for the second time, a year after my first visit. I thought I’d give it another try. I was looking forward to trying the fried snook (Robalo, as it's called here).
