I recently had the pleasure of staying at Stella Maris B&B, and it was truly an unforgettable experience. From the moment I arrived, I was greeted with warm hospitality and a welcoming atmosphere that made me feel right at home.

Posada Stella Maris is such a wonderful place! Our family of 4 stayed there as part of a larger group while we did service work in the area around Puerto Barrios. We were greeted with welcoming smiles the moment we arrived and were grateful to return to the serenity the posada after our long and usually hard days.

The rooms are simple but spotlessly clean and very comfortable. There are many amenities that are hard to find in Guatemala including hot water, air conditioning, cable TV, access to a washer for clothes and as much agua pura as you want to drink! We looked forward to delicious homemade breakfast on a balcony with a beautiful view of both mountains and the ocean each morning and loved the convenience of being able to use the kitchen throughout our stay. We also loved the opportunity to attend mass at the breathtaking Iglesia Stella Maris, which is only steps away on the other side of the building.

Most importantly, Oli and her staff were amazing. As I already said, they were so welcoming when we arrived, then we quickly became friends and by the time we left we felt like family. The posada is a home away from home! Oli and her team made everyone in our group feel comfortable and like they are family during our weeklong stay. We had a group of 15 stay at the posada as a base for a service trip in the area. All of us felt very safe and welcomed and the posada had everything we could need during our stay. Close to Livingston as well as Rio Dulce for day trips to see those areas. We had a lovely boat ride right from Puerto Barrios to the RioDulce and Livingston area.

Excellent breakfasts daily and pure water available all the time to refill your water bottles. This is a huge help! The rooms are very clean and well maintained, beds are very comfortable. A/C worked very well!

Views of the sea from the balcony at breakfast are gorgeous! We are counting the days til we come again. The grounds of Stella Maris are peaceful and beautiful.
