While there are a lot of positives to this hotel, it doesn’t achieve the luxurious, upscale vibe/experience it seems to be trying for. ||First, the positives. The hotel is located right on the Pacific and the view is spectacular. We really enjoyed swimming in the pool and lounging by the water. We felt very safe the entire time we were there. Other reviewers commented on there being too many families for the hotel to be a good couples trip- we didn’t find that.||The negatives. The hotel is overpriced for the quality it delivers. The room we stayed in wasn’t very clean and the window AC dropped constantly on the floor. The bathrooms do not have hot water- I understand this is fairly common for beach accommodations, but I would expect hot water in a room costing appx $250 a night. The staff were very kind; however, the hotel is terribly understaffed. As other reviewers mentioned, it took a very long time to get food and drinks. The drinks were good but the food was barely edible. Breakfast is their best meal.||Suggestions for improvement:|- lower prices or vastly improve quality|- more staff|- pool towels|- information in rooms about hotel, activities, etc|- hot tub |- consider revising menu|- inspect rooms to...
Read moreFirst the Good ...||||Beautiful quiet beach, nice rooms with good air conditioning and comfortable beds. Nice rooftop lounge area, easy check-in, wifi works well. Fairly quiet and not a party destination. Mostly young families. ||||The Not so good ...||||Not a great place for couples. Mostly families with kids. Three pools with one designated for kids that none of the kids use. They are in all of the pools including the little ones being fed IN the pool and dropping food in the water. No microwave, no refrigerator, no coffee. ||||The bad ... ||||The rooftop had a nice hammock that my 110 pound girlfriend tried out and the rope slid down the pole and she almost broke her arm..... and now the worst. ONE restaurant and you have no choice but to use it. Service is horrific. Food selection is terrible and the beverage selections are sparse at best. Breakfast is free and nearly inedible with some of the worst coffee (IN GUATEMALA) I've ever had. On my last night, I splurged with a Churrasco steak that tasted like my shoe and got food poisoning and was sick for five days. This is unacceptable for a hotel charging $190-250 a night....
