The hotel appears to be some class- A resort...it is not. What it is, though, is an overpriced yet quite practical hotel to spend some time. |The pools are small and smell a little weird ( Clorox and something else) - but again, a great place to relax at night. The bar is stocked but quite expensive, think 5 dollars for a mixed shot. In the pool area, there is music that plays from morning until night, which began to irk my father, cousin and I. |The rooms are smallish, and all cushioned surfaces have an ugly white concrete slab underneath. The AC units in the rooms make a tremendous racket quite unbecoming of a hotel that charges 150 dollars a night. |Everything, and I mean everything is an extra charge at this hotel: tiny coffee refill, water, food...etc. ||This hotel needs to LOWER ITS PRICES all around for the service offered, value for stay and accomodations. The staff should also lighten up a little bit, as I saw two smiles during our stay. Location is amazing, and probably can't be bettered...
Read moreMy wife and I recently visited Playa Plana for the second time. We stayed there for 9 nights. The weather was awesome. The food at the restaurant was as good or better better than anything I have had in Antigua or Panahachel. The waves were huge for the first few days so we stayed out of the ocean but no problem. We were so close to the beach that you could feel the waves crash while in the bed. Air conditioning worked great. Satellite tv worked great. Our bed had a firm mattress that seemed brand new. Wifi worked great and was never a problem. ||||After 5 days 6 more friends showed up from the US and stayed for 5 more nights. We had a blast. Went on a mangrove jungle tour and bought some big crabs from a fisherman. Ate them for dinner. Delicious!||||The hotel was quiet during the week but got pretty lively on the weekends. We enjoyed both. ||Can't...
Read moreThe place is far into El Hawaii but I enjoyed being more secluded. A stroll down the black sand beaches away from the hotels was nice. The water is very rough here and there was only a lifeguard stand by the hotel I think. Swim at your own risk. Very beautiful place to relax. There are lounge chairs and what not set up around the dining area. The restaurant offered a large menu. It was alright. Easy because it was on site with a friendly staff. Some stuff is overpriced while some is reasonable. The room and bathroom were fine, nothing spectacular. We enjoyed our visit but it was a bit pricey. They do have a basketball net outside and the pool area was nice as well. There wasn’t a 24 hour service from what I could see(check-in,etc.), it wasn’t like any other hotel I...
