I want to give them a higher rating, but the constant construction noise starting as early as 7:30am & ending as late as 7pm with drilling, power sawing & hammering was really too much. Obviously if I’m here I want to relax, enjoy a sauna & maybe sit in a garden while meditating. The fact of the matter is that the road noise of trucks is all day & through the night. I had habitación 16 & it was tucked away as far from the road as I could get, still had constant truck engine braking noise to go with the construction. I’m thinking the room location was also why I only had WiFi on my devices if I was standing by the door, also, the WiFi disconnected so frequently & I had to sign back in thru their service each time. Really annoying for slow Wifi.
The sauna I used night 1 was sauna-8 & it was very mild, hot, but easily tolerable. Night 2 I used sauna-1 & it was incredibly hot! Like, I could barely breathe it was so hot, it’s hard to get something in the middle, but if I had to pick one over the other I’d take #1. Makes me wonder if it’s the proximity to the heat source, maybe #4 would’ve been just right.
I was fasting while visiting, so maybe I was a little more sensitive to noise during my stay, but if I didn’t bring my fan with me on this trip I probably would have been constantly woken up by the truck & moto noise.
Since I was fasting this is not a review of their restaurant, but the coffee was bigly disappointing. I can’t understand how they can’t make a good americano, I even asked for it strong/fuerte & it was meh.
The room was very clean, the soaps, lotion & shampoo all say organic/natural & were not overly perfumed. The bed had 4 pillows on it, was very comfortable & the sheets were all clean as well. I’ll leave it with...
Read moreThis cute hotel is tucked away in the highlands of Guatemala. ||Pros: |The room we had was large and the bed was comfortable the spa tub worked well|The food at the restaurant was good. The restaurant crews differ immensely |The grounds are beautiful and well kept and the view from the restaurant was amazing||Cons: |The initial greeting at the hotel was off putting. It did not seem welcoming at all. |The website says this is a luxury spa but upon check in, no one wanted to let us about spa services or anything offered by the facility. |The person who walked us to our room only would point in the direction of the sauna. We asked several times about using the services but could not get an answer.|We found out the spa sauna was available to guest after we checked out|Robes or more than 1 towel per person would be nice at a spa |This hotel was maybe at 1/5 capacity when we stayed here. There was construction right outside our room and it started at 6am. There was nothing relaxing about this. |You have to re-login to the wifi very often (about every 15 minutes) it works it is just really in inconvenient.||Overall, our experience was ok. We felt like there was little patience for us when we did not understand something that might have been typical for...
Read moreThis beautiful getaway is a short distance from Quetzaltenango, but definitely worth the trip. We stayed for one night and ate in the restaurant and enjoyed a massage and sauna the next morning. The first impression was how beautifully decorated the place is! It is so clean and filled with original paintings and unique Guatemalan figurines. The room was spacious and had a fireplace and jacuzzi. |The restaurant offered typical dishes tastefully served. Try the parillada for two if you are a meat lover.|The surroundings are so peaceful you forget you’re close to a town (the occasional noise of truck air brakes remind you however).|The massage session was amazing! A full body massage for an hour for about $30. Afterwards, we enjoyed a steamy sauna heated by volcanic steam vents.|The only negative was the poor shower in the bedroom. |If you are wanting a place to unwind and relax, Las Cumbres is a...
