This place is in an idyllic setting, however it needs a major update. We arrived late on the ferry, and the people picking us up didn't come kook for us, we had to find the boat and confirm it would take us to the island. They basically didn't say a word or ask who we were, just gestured us on board. This was after dark, so it was mildy disconcerting. |We got there just fine, and they offered us welcome drinks, which were terribly sweet and not fresh juice or anything.|The bungalow itself was nice, spacious, beachfront. The matresses need an upgrade. Nice porch with seating, good aircon, and excellent shower pressure.|Overall the resort has a bit of an 80's vibe. Including caged parrots, sea turtles, etc. It's time to set the animals free! We didn't come here to see that! Vibrant Dr. seuss colour scheme going on all over the place. Pink, yellow, blue painted everything. It did have seating going for it. Benches, tables, and hammocks everywhere.|Our main complaint was the restaurant. Nothing really local. A few dishes were decent - shrimp, fish, etc. But a few things were terrible. Semi raw pork chop, to which the waiter had no response. Also undercooked chicken wings. Chicken sandwiches were ok, besides being waaaay too salty. No fruit included with anything, even a small garnish. No desserts at all on the menu. No non alcoholic drinks listed, you had to ask what they had. Limanada was from concentrate, no fresh juices or smoothies available. The cocktails were so pathetic. Couldn't tell if there was alcohol in them. No imagination. We've had a lot of great drinks in Central America, bit these were real bad. The coffee was not good and they didn't provide milk, only whitener.|One of the waiters had dementia. Wrote down everything but then came back to ask questions about our order frequently. Wrong dressings, frozen instead of rocks, etc.|Mostly, the staff were friendly enough.|Still give out small water bottles and shampoos, change sheets and towels every day, unless you decline.|We had heard about great snorkeling right off shore but the only okay spot was across the bridge and to your left at the end of the bridge along the coral ridge. Shallow but decent. Saw some small nurse sharks.|Overall, we had a decent time in paradise, but Graham's place needs to leap forward a few decades, especially...
Read moreFrom the beautiful azure waters to the amazingly accommodating staff, to the charismatic Mr. Graham himself, this island paradise is a remarkable jewel nestled in the Caribbean waters off the coast of Honduras’ Bay Island of Guanaja!! This is the place to be for tranquility, sunshine, bright smiles pure relaxation!! 7 acres of total bliss! We swam with turtles, conversed with parrots and a beautiful macaw, fed Tom and Jerry (the resident pelicans), and delighted in the seemingly endless stories of Mr. Graham! We snorkeled at Michael’s Rock in the clearest water I have ever snorkeled in, with more variety of fish and coral than I’ve ever seen in one place! Amazing food and drinks served by the friendliest bartenders and waiters I’ve ever had the pleasure of meeting. We left the island at the end of our stay with hugs and tearful goodbyes as we parted company with our new island family.......until our many more visits in the near future!! I hesitate to share this info because I want to selfishly keep this island gem...
Read moreWe had such a great stay at Graham’s Place. The food was very good, especially considering the remoteness of the island, and the kitchen and restaurant staff couldn’t have been more welcoming. Everyone made us feel like part of the family from day one.
The accommodations were clean and comfortable, with strong A/C units that kept us cool at night. We also appreciated having a fridge and microwave in the room, which made things really convenient after a long day outside.
We spent most of our time fishing and snorkeling around the island. The shore bonefishing was a highlight. If you enjoy flats fishing, this place is a quiet gem. Snorkeling at Michael’s Rock was beautiful, with clear water and lots of marine life.
One of the best parts of the trip was the boat outings. John David was fantastic with our group. He shared great local insight and made the snorkeling trips fun and relaxing.
The entire staff at Graham’s Place was attentive, kind, and truly seemed to care that we were...
