We arrived and asked if there were any rooms available. We were told yes, we have a luxury bungalow. It was 4:30 pm and we were tired. The owner was pretty friendly and told us the "bungalow was luxurious" we didn't want to drive anymore and said we'd take it. He told us they just had to get it ready. So we waited a half hour or so, His wife then told us to please wait until they ate their dinner, And the current guest needed to check out. She said it wouldn't be long. ||We realised afterwards that both the male owner and his wife were drunk, we waited nearly 2 hours for the "luxurious room" ||When we finally could bring our things in the male owner told me "park me car anywhere" since my husband is handicapped and walks with crutches they gave us the ground floor luxurious bungalow. ||We opened the door and saw a double bed, wardrobe and cheap sofa. It was now nearly 7:00 pm ||The room smelled horrible, it was making me mouth breathe. I soon realised why. The waste pipe on the toilet was leaking. They had a towel under it that was brown and wet. I wanted to cry! The shower was black mould all along the bottom. The bath Rug was still wet from the previous renter. ||The bed was a hard unmovable hard tweed covered divan. It looked like a cheap sofa they opened into a bed. ||The "pool" was infested with bugs and after waiting the 2 hours we were both covered in bug bites. Ok I know it's the country but the "man made pool" attracted Mosquitos. The bottom was slimy and there was no way we were going in there. ||We went to dinner and when we returned it was dark, so I parked on the other side where I didn't have to get out and open two gates and drive in then close them again. The female owner came over and screamed at us for parking where the "house guests" park. Ok I'll move the car! ||Our private terrace was the walk way for the recycle bins which was literally beside us, so everyone just walked through our terrace to dump their garbage. ||There was NO WIFI NO AIR CONDITIONING a small fan was in the room and the plug was too far for the fan to cool us off. ||Breakfast was powered orange juice rotting plums and cheap lunch meat. ||We had to pay in cash as well and were not given a proper receipt! ||We've stayed in bungalows in third world countries that were more luxurious. ||Beware. These people are not professionals. When I asked to check out the wife started talking in a miserable tone in some other language. Very rude once they get your money! ||The loud trains all night were also a joy...
Read moreDriving around the less touristy side of Lake Balaton, we were looking for a hotel on the lake side of the road. We followed the signs and emerging in the trees, was a lovely pension. Immediately my husband was intrigued because along with the beautiful landscaping was a natural swimming pool. (A swimming pool where the water is purified by aquatic plants) The owners were very welcoming and accommodating. Our room was in the main house with a very large, bathroom. Surrounded by lawns and were several additional little guesthouses. The breakfast was very good and the coffee was plentiful. The owners suggested a restaurant not far off the main road, Laci Pince Csarda. It sits on a hill overlooking a vineyard and Lake Balaton. Wonderful dinner, wonderful pension, a very nice last impression of Hungary as we headed to Budapest for our...
Read moreWe haven't yet finished our stay at The Hotel-Pension Residenz, yet I'm compelled to write my first ever Trip Advisor review. My son had an ear infection and Roman and his family couldn't do enough to help. Roman and his daughter spent all morning driving my wife and son to doctors and pharmacy's to get him fixed up. Such kindness and service. By the way the pension is georgeous and quiet with beautiful grounds, plenty for the kids to do and the breakfast is...
