It did not fulfill the expectations at all! We are very disappointed! After having a long day arriving by plane we drove to the outskirts of Budapest to finally have some rest, which was totally unsuccessful. At 07:30 in the morning on Saturday(!) the cleaning staff (4 cleaning ladies) marched into to the hallways making a terrible noise, they started moving everything around, continuously shutting and opening doors and windows, marching up and down talking loudly, dragging stuff around and they also set the fire alarm on at some point, which made such a noise these early hours that we almost got a cardiac arrest! It was just impossible to have a good rest. The doors have a hole underneath and it was like being on a construction site. Hotels should respect that guests are coming to rest! You should wait till the checkout hours to do a complete clean up! We wanted to get a refund for our money as we paid for the night in advance on booking.com but we were told they wouldn't refund anything. This is terrible service and shows complete disrespect for your clients. Not to mention that our room was filled with dust, also there was no hair dryer in the bathroom. Also, the breakfast was very vague. In a 4 star hotel we expect fresh orange juice, not boxed fruit juice concentrates, and a variety of fresh seasonal fruits (not some old apples and oranges) and different salty and sweet things to choose from to have a nice breakfast, there was no variety at all, not even some bananas or plant based milk. We will not come back here, it is not up to the 4 star standards, that it...
Read moreCreepy. Reminscent of communist era hostels. Nothing is thought out; the renovation of the old chateau cannot possibly have been sanctioned by the dept. of monument preservation. There is something rather Kafkaesque about the building. Strange hallways, with random ups and downs. A breakfast room (with a perfectly fine selection of breakfast foods), tucked away in a windowless area, when those spaces with views of the pleasant-looking gardens are unused or empty. The room itself cannot have been cleaned before I checked in; There were crumbs on the table, dust bunnies on the floor, no hair dryer, half of the lamps didn’t work, and there was an empty 2-liter bottle of Sprite in one of the drawers. The reception staff were perfectly courteous, but reacted like deer caught in the headlights to any request or interaction. Ultimately, I would attribute all of these things more to ineptitude than to carelessness... All in all a veeeery weird, and - understandably deserted -...
Read moreThe outside of the hotel and the surrounding nature are fantastic, the staff helpful. On the inside, the almost complete lack of fabric, as in carpets and curtains, meant that every sound in the staircase was amplified, and so when new guests arrived late at night it felt like they were heading to our room. The headboard reading lamps were placed in the center of each side making it near impossible to comfortably sit in the bed without hitting your head against them. The bathroom ventilation turned on along with the lighting, but made so much noise that we essentially had to use the toilet in the dark as not to make up the rest of the family. The showerhead didn't fit into the holder and the lack of any panel or shower curtain meant we had to sit in the bathtub as to not soak the entire bathroom. All in all the place has great potential, but in its current state, it felt rather underwhelming especially considering...
