Eger Crown Wine House, Wine Village and Spa Hotel — Hotel in Egri járás

We visited this hotel some time ago in March 2011 because a friend gave me a case of this wine as a birthday present and the wine was so good. it made a wine drinker of me! It took three years to arrange a visit because they could not speak English and therefore could not translate my emails. The rate we received included an overnight package of breakfast and dinner with wine tastings! Finally a Hungarian doctor living in New Orleans made the arrangements on my behalf and I flew to Hungary with my husband, rented a car and made the journey. The rooms were nice enough but just okay and nothing to be excited about. We arrived late at night and by day saw they were undergoing renovations adding to their property. The food was a gastronomic occasion and the wine was amazing too. We signed up for a special course that included tasting six different wines of our choice. We must have tried at least 12 varieties in one sitting! Unfortunately they no longer make the wine that won my heart. They have a wine that they say replaces my favorite, but unless my taste buds have changed it is not the same. It is all good because I found another that is just as wonderful! They absolutely make excellent wine and the wine tasting was definitely a memorable treat the hospitality was even more lovely and I plan to return next month bringing a friend who after being introduced to their wine must visit as well. I can vouch that this is an amazing winery and can hardly wait to experience the new additions. The rates have increased but now they offer much more in addition to accommodation, the Breakfast and dinner buffet with a Cellar tour and wine tastings, massages. a Thermal Spa that include both in and outdoor pools, a wellness area, various saunas, a salt and steam room and an aroma cabin, plus free parking. Their wine has won numerous awards. I wish they shipped to the US! Also in this place I had my best Thai massage ever and managed to bring back one case of wine in our luggage! My parents have spent several holidays here and we had our wedding lunch in hotel's restaurant staying for overnight. Now we were back with our toddler for a week and we can't complain this time either. I would claim this lovely place is for everyone, suitable for meeting the requirements of couples, families, friends and the elderly. If you like active holidays you can also go hiking in the Bükk nearby or visit Eger 12 km away. || The hotel has an indoor pool and there are several apartments located in cottages near the outdoor pools with thermal water. The restaurant is located in the winery and offers tables both indoors and outdoors in a wonderful environment. We were absolutely happy with the food (a lot better than in the other hotel nearby in Demjén). The cottage is clean and nice, enough for a family with 2 kids and comes with an outdoor place with tables, chairs and a sunbed. You can sleep upstairs or donwstairs on the convertible sofa. The whole interior has been revamped recently. I really enjoy the view here, basically you're in a wineyard and what you can see everywhere is lush garden with all sorts of beautiful plants, too, which are taken care of every day like any failure that migh occur. You can physically feel this whole place is of very high standard. This “wellness hotel” can be found on the legs of the wonderful Matra mountain. In spite of the investment the area of the accommodation is not too relaxed. It seems an artificial part in the centre of the agricultural area. ||||This place calls and signs itself four stars wellness and spa hotel and restaurant.||||First of all the rooms aren’t beseem to the demands rather if somebody knows what the four stars what means. Those are appear clean till any movable part don’t move like any doors. Behind them there are much dust. Moreover, what is the important to everybody? The own body and its health. The bathroom has been dirty and uncared. (check the included pictures). About the equipment. It’s very strange to me in this topic there are handtowels and bath towels but there aren’t shower towels in the rooms. There aren’t any beauty shower gels, shampoo and so and so on those can be minimal such this place. And finally in connection of the rooms there isn’t daily cleaning and refreshing.||About the wellness pools. Too small, cool and very far against the sold of accommodations. The ability of reaching is terrible in cold, in spite of the hotel signs itself 12 months service.||The restaurant is very poor and boring. ||I can be queued the low quality services like TV (basic channels, no international ones like in the socialism, an empty fridge means to the hotel as the minibar). That is not a joke that’s the reality. ||After five years return we decided skip this place in the future.
