Hotel Melis és Étterem — Hotel in Fonyódi járás

This Restaurant with Chalets called Pensions in Hungary, was a fantastic find. It is on the beach of Lake Balaton. The food in the restaurant was excellent. The accomodation stretches out to the beach where they have a bar restaurant also. The restaurant on the beach cooked delicious food. I really enjoyed their Goulash served in a traditional Hungarian pot. The breakfast was of good quality too, there were plently of choices and Lots of it. This is a great place for families, there was a play area for children, Volley ball and sand pit. The accomodation was really clean and comfortable. There was everything we needed including a fridge, microwave and kettle. The shower was powerfull too. The staff were so polite and could speak English. There are a couple of well known supermarkets close by for anything you may need. ||Budapest is approximately 1hr drive away and there is a train that goes to Balatonlelle from Budapest. There is lots to do in the area, we took a boat trip across the lake and went on a wine tasting tour, at 30p a glass we tried several wines !! ||All in all a great value holiday, beautiful weather and stunning sunsets. I was there 3 days ago on 5 days holiday with my wife and 4 years son. This pension have 13 apartments (2 floors, balkon and space in front of house with table and seats). Pension is little old building but very clean and well kept. From pension to free beach is maybe 50 meters. On area is playground for kids. There is restaurant too with hungarian meals in normal prices. infrastructure near pension are very good. In beach are bars, fast food restaurants etc. All in 50 meters from pension. From pension to city centre is 500 meters. There are many restaurants, shops etc. Support on pension are very nice and helpful. I didn't have any problems with them.||When i was in melis pension there was many families with children. My child was very pleased because he could play with them. English - magyarul alatta||Bathroom recently renovated, furnitures are old school but everything clean. Meals are included in the price and were plenty, also very tasty and large portions during our 5 days stay. We were extremely pleased with the hotel staff, everybody were veryhelpful and smiling. We stayed in a different place a year before for three times of the price of Hotel Melis and did not get a single smile during our 3 days of stay. Live in Australia, tent to be fussy about friendly service. ||Summary - don't expect fancy or upmarket furnishing for this price. The food and the staff are excellent.
