Lovely gem near Lake Balaton located in a beautiful natural setting.
We had an amazing short stay (3 nights) at the Kuria. Hospitality was 5*. All of the staff went above and beyond looking after us.
Our room (120) was clean, spacious and modern. We loved the variety of Wellness options to choose from and the discounts have been offered in the Spring special package, even though unfortunately we didn't have the time to use them all on this occasion. Food was amazing, except one occasion, which I'll mention later. The room temperature is controlled by A/C, which is included in the room price! I know, it's sad I have to emphasize this, but our experience says so far, that's a plus to get air con included in your room price, even in a 4* hotel.
They served breakfast at the Kuria and dinners were at the castle, which is a 5 mins lovely stroll in nature, which could be beneficial for your health, especially after lunch. Perhaps it won't be so nice in pouring rain, but we were lucky.
Another lovely surprise was the free events and animations throughout the week(meditation sessions, crafts sessions), which again, we missed due to visiting the hotel for a 3 day special event (World Samoyed Meeting), but nevermind, it is another thing to look forward to when we come back.
Apart from the wellness and the animations, there is plenty to do at the hotel. You just can't admire enough nature, the old trees in the hotel's park, the beautiful view from the hotel to its surroundings, the architecture of the Kuria and the Castle building both inside and out. There is a small shop on the hotel grounds, where you can buy all the necessities you need, which to my surprise is not overpriced at all. Those, who like to be active can play minigolf, golf, and tennis on the hotel grounds. If you're planning to get out of the hotel, it's so nice, why would you? But if you do, you have famous thermal baths around within 20 mins drive like Heviz, Kehidakustyan, Keszthely, and of course you have the luxury to decide which part of Lake Balaton (Central Europe's largest lake) you would visit, the calm and peaceful northern part, perfect for nature lovers or the vibrant and busy southern part perfect for party lovers.
As you can see you can't go wrong choosing the Batthyany Wellness Castle and Kuria for your stay!
Now, even the best hotels have the opportunity to improve, so let's see some constructive feedback.
Let's get out of the way the biggest mishap. On our first evening at dinner, the grilled pork loin was still raw (pink) inside. I like to emphasize, that there was a one time occasion. All meals after that (we had 3 meals each day at the hotel) were amazing, tasty, fresh and well made! It was a one time mishap, but they definitely need to be careful about that, as my husband has been poorly in the past at other hotels, luckily he was fine this time as he stopped eating it as soon as he spotted it.
Now that this is out of the way, let's follow with two tiny suggestions. One would be, if they can broaden the available channels on the TV. There is no english speaking channel option at all, and very limited hungarian channels available. Please change this!
The other would be, if you could put a parasol overhanging the sun lounger set at the front of the Kuria to get some shade. That would be great!
Other than these, everything is and was perfect! Keep up the good work and management please continue to appreciate and value your staff as I cannot praise them...
Read moreWe spent a great weekend at the Kuria. The interior is modern and slightly elegant. Our room was well equipped. (Bath gown, towels, hair dryer, body lotion, mini bar, air condition...etc.) The wellness is in the Manor, which is a different building. You have to take a walk through a spectacular park. Unfortunately the weather was rainy-windy, so we couldn't enjoy it.||The wellness is a bit small if everyone like to visit it during bad weather. But in the low season there aren't many guests. It has a pool (bit worn, but still very good), a hot tub and a large sauna. The sauna ritual program is included.||The dining place of a the Kuria is small. But the food is perfectly made. We loved it. (The half board not included drinks.) The breakfast is repetitive and not so various, but still tasty at all.||The staff were caring and so kind, that you really feel welcome there.||In the nearby you can find a professional golf course, a spectacular fishing pond, Héviz is about 10km from there. And Keszthely (Lake Balaton) is about 15km.||||I can recommend it for couples, and those who want a silent rest during...
Read moreWe spent 5 days in Zalacsány to taste golf there. We arrive in the late afternoon and we found our hotel Batthyány Kúria – Manson closed. The gate to the park closed by heavy chain. Nearby in the Batthyány Castle staff mentioned some accident and they offered a very nice superior room for us, unpleasantly in the second floor without a lift. The Castle was very nice, look as a newly renovated. Next day after the first round of golf we visited the already open Batthyány Kúria and our decision was simple – to move there. ||Kúria in comparison with the Castle looks as a chateau farmhouse. Our room was in the grand floor, spacious, divided in three rooms –bedroom, living room and space with private Jacuzzi. A small and charming restaurant with great Hungarian food, mostly for meat lovers. Lovely bar with terrace, overlooking carefully maintained park. Really pleasant staff added value to this very nice place, situated only few minutes from the Zala Springs golf and on the edge of small...
