Károlyi Mansion, Fehérvárcsurgó — Hotel in Móri járás

I'd like to split the review for every single department of this place as was just incredible maybe I didn't show the appreciation that day but I'm happy, they made our wedding special from staff members very professional and location anyhow let's get into it if you stick around you can get some good info that might get you an ideea of how great it is.

Rooms The rooms are very spacious and they have huge beds, all of them have baths so buy your bath bombs. The beds are big and comfy, clean everywhere and the carpets so soft.

Reception We got some really nice people that understood the fact that guests don't speak Hungarian or English and they had the patience to check in and out everyone. Any favours we asked any questions we had they were more than happy to help the smile and commitment to the task was very welcoming and warm.

Location The castle is a piece of art itself, looks lovely and the estetic of the rooms although sends you away in past you'll still feel in the 21 century. Outside being a park the view from inside is just lovely, the entrance is as you see it online gracious with a lovely fountain and the castle is big. You'll find little things that will make you smile there.

Waiting service I'd like to say Heni the head waitress and the team at the wedding were just amazing you didn't realise that they were there, smiley and little jokes with the guests, and very attentive, the event went with no issues and I'm very happy with the catering team. I'd like to include in here the breakfast we had in the morning and Heni daughter that served us in the morning, great timing, helpfull to all our overnight staying guests.

Food service The food was great I got only compliments from everyone, few of the kind words from our guests to the chefs: "food is delicious", " can we get more", "I can't believe this duck is so soft", " what is the recipe for this dish ?" And multiple more with this I'd like to end this section with Compliments to the chef ! No other comment

Overall not including other suppliers here the castle offered us a wedding without stress, an amazing day where the waiting staff and everyone else was doing their job properly offering us peace of mind. Side note from the review I'd like to thank you all for this amazing night, I might have been a bit drunk in the end, but to the youngsters at the bar thanks for understanding and keep serving me that lovely votka. From all my guests I got that "wow" factor that I was expecting but without the staff in this place that wouldn't be possible either so we...

Mes deux étoiles vont au lieu magnifique et au personnel charmant et plein de bonne volonté qui lui donne vie. Les trois étoiles qui manquent sont, elles, dues au couple français qui gèrent le château et a leur attitude globale...

Alors qu'il y avait un pic de chaleur lors de notre séjour, ils se sont tout d'abord réservé la dernière table dans la cour d'honneur du château, laissant les clients que nous étions (et qui avaient, eux, payé la prestation) bien au chaud dans la salle a manger... Ils parlaient Français avec leurs invités mais Monsieur a fait semblant de ne pas m'entendre lorsque je lui ai parlé cette même langue. En pleine pandémie Madame manipulait à mains nues les couverts dans leurs corbeilles, histoire de choisir les siens, et apothéose, l'une de leurs invités s'est permis de remplir une assiette avec 3 des 4 dernières parts de tarte présentes au buffet alors que nous n'avions pas encore touché aux desserts.

Quant a la demi-pension, soit en fait le dîner, puisque le petit-déjeuner est inclus dans le prix de la nuit, il est clairement à éviter. Pour l'équivalent des 20 euros hors boissons (chers facturées par ailleurs) et alors que le site internet de l'hôtel vante la cuisine gastronomique de son restaurant a grands renforts de photos, et que nous attendions un dîner en quatre services conformément a la description du site, nous nous sommes retrouvés face a un buffet (ce qui n'était indiqué nulle part, au moins sur la version anglaise du site) avec une soupe de petits pois trop liquide et salée, des pâtes trop cuites agrémentées d'une sauce à base de tomates en boîte (triste en pleine saison dans un pays où il fait aussi chaud l'été), du poulet sec et insipide, et le même choix de fromages qu'au petit déjeuner le lendemain. Enfin, dans un pays disposant d'une longue tradition pâtissière, le dessert était constitué de brownies et d'une tarte pomme-cannelle (la fameuse...), tous deux... Industriels! Sachant qu'en Hongrie un vrai bon repas boissons incluses coûte environ 15 a 20 euros par personne, celui-ci, couplé a l'attitude globale des gérants nous reste encore dans le gorge au bout d'une semaine...

Étant honnête, j'ai dit ce que je pensais de l'expérience a la réceptionniste lors de notre check out le lendemain. La serveuse (très attentionnée et professionnelle par ailleurs) qui s'était occupée de nous à la fois au dîner et au petit-déjeuner s'est alors présentée, le stress peint sur son visage. Elle a échangé quelques secondes avec la réceptionniste qui nous a ensuite traduit : elle avait peur que mon mécontentement venait du fait qu'elle ne savait pas parler Français ni Anglais, ce qui, bien sûr, n'était pas le cas. Son niveau d'angoisse a ce moment là nous a laissé augurer de la façon avec laquelle les gérant sont susceptibles de traiter leur personnel...

En résumé : bel endroit mais triste...

A truly fantastic place! Not only a nicely renovated period country home/museum with knowledgeable, friendly staff, but also a great place to stay. The location is amazingly beautiful, peaceful and quiet - well worth a long walk around the estates publicly accessible park. I would also recommend the guided tour to learn more about the place's interesting history and the restoration process!
