The Tisza Inn run by Elsje and Roel is nothing less than the Garden of Eden. An exaggeration? Not really! During the three sweltering days we spent here, we enjoyed the grand park-like garden with mature trees that offered shade. The rooms in the idyllic thatched house are large and very comfortable. Guests may use the “canteen”, which is provided with a fridge. If you wish, Elsje serves a varied and yummie breakfast out on the covered terrace. The little village of Tiszababolna where the B&B is located does not have much to tempt tourists, but it boasts an excellent restaurant at just ten minutes’ walk from the B&B. Most of all, the B&B is a great base for active outings in the nearby wildlife areas (biking, hiking, canoeing). Or for spotting birds. Roel organises excursions for true bird watchers. We are no bird watchers but we were curious and went on a birding trip with Roel. Of course we did not see or hear every bird that Roel heard and saw, but thanks to his guidance even we had a long list of birds by the end of the day. We also have fond memories of the ride in a covered wagon along the Hungarian steppe that Elsje and Roel recommended. Like the bird watching excursion fun and interesting and very affordable.
