István Parkhotel and Restaurant — Hotel in Nagykanizsai járás

TLDR.: Save yourself and your money from coming here and buy a sandwich at a gas station instead.

We went there with my girlfriend after a long ride. Unfortunately, we haven't read the reviews carefully before entering here.

The place looks nice, after a short search on the owner's name threw up some public data on 4 EU grants that have been won, which explains why it looks refreshed, (After all, there are Tesla charging stations as well) well overstaffed (at least 5 waiters worked at quiet hours..).

Me and my partner are vegetarians and upon entering, we saw that the prices were set pretty high. At this point, we were just wishing that the "Vegan Salad" for 4200Ft, or the Coated, fried cheese will be as good as the price suggests.

Well upon getting our orders, the sudden realization kicked in, that this place is just no more than a joke: The salad was a simple salad containing nothing more than some carrots, bell peppers, and the chickpea patties on it were still uncooked on the inside. If not only felt cheap, but a total ripoff. The Coated, fried cheese was a mere frozen food deep fried, with some cheap fries. We ordered some mayo and ketchup next to it, because who eats fries without sauce, right?

Well guess what, a limonade and this two food, which is well below acceptable, we paid 14 300 HUF. The most inhumane thing is paying a 1000 HUF extra for the Ketchup and mayo.

I don't know where the people who gave this place 5 stars (which kind of sounds like they bought reviews as well after this), but a Michelin star restaurant (Borkonyha for example, I quickly looked up the prices) in downtown Budapest...

I made a reservation at this hotel by email. I clearly specified that I need the checkin to be done very early in the morning, around 6 am and the checkout very late in the night. I got a confirmation that this is not a problem for them - it can be done.|When i arrived at the hotel around 6 am they told me that i can not get the room i reserved, because somebody else is already staying there. Also, no other room available. If i need a room i had to wait untill 2 pm. I explained them that i was togethet with my husband and my 1 year old kid and we can not wait for 8 hours. I showed them the confirmation that I got by email and they explained was written by a crazy employee.|Finaly we waited in the car for just one hour and they gave us the room. I've attached few picture so you can see how the room look like. I paid 45 euro for one night. Also, during the day we could get no sleep, because a team was building something in the yard, so concrete was poured from the truck, wood was cut, a lot of noise entire day.|The hotel has a big yard, some flowers and a lot of green area. A lot of money invested in buildings, restauran, pond, parking placrt. You can find pictures with the good things they did with the money, but everything looks like no maintenance is done to the building, garden, pond.|Food was good, much too salty. Awful experience,after reading the reviews we were excited to finally have some proper traditional hungarian food but this is not the right place. Also we came here for dinner,we were tired and the lady waiter rushed us and made us order quick,had no patience with the kids,put pressure on us,someone at the next table had to end up an important call because the same waiter was asking for the order.Aparently they hire untrained staff for the summer season Prices are very high for what you get,any restaurant within the area serves proper traditional food at half price. Not only we will never visit again,but as foody travellers,it will take some time to forget this experience. Anyway,we didn't wanna leave Hungary on this note so next day we went to M7 restaurant and what a smart choice it was,the food is plenty,very tasty and cheaper as well.Even my son said many times that he ate so well About Istvan,if you know what you want and what the restaurant are...
