Edelweiss Panzió — Hotel in Pilisvörösvári járás

I was amazed at how easy it was to get to and find the Edelweiss Panzio (the Hungarian for Pension). It is a ten minute stroll from the nearest railway station which is named after the street.||The area is similar to areas through out Swebia (which runs from South West Germany all the way to this area just North West of Budapest). In fact the town is also called Werischwar, which is the old German name. German is the second language which came in handy as I am only just starting to learn Hungarian (Magyar).||The Hotel was just like Hotels I have stayed in, in the Black Forest regions of Baden-Wurternberg and Bayer. The breakfast dining area even had hunting trophies and carved oak panels!||The staff and owners were very friendly and made you feel welcome without being intrusive. The rooms were spotless and the on suite shower/bathroom (no bath) was roomy and the shower powerful and easy to adjust. The beds were comfortable and each room comes with a small fridge and mini-bar. The only shortcoming was the wi-fi coverage, which was poor, the further the room is from reception and mine was the furthest. It worked fine in the reception area and the dining room. Ask for a room near reception!||Breakfast was always very good with a selection of local meats and cheeses and fresh bread. It also included a selection of teas, including Earl Grey, but not English Breakfast (my advice to fellow Brits is bring some with you!).||There was also a mini gym and a sauna. The sauna costs about £5 and is very pleasant.||Local amenities are limited, but there are a couple of excellent bars and restaurants within walking distance. The cake shop, which is very grand, is to die for and amazingly reasonable. I thought I was entering a five star restaurant.||Budapest centre is only a 40 minute train ride away and the return fare is about £2. A very modern and clean service with easy to use ticket machines. Trains run every 20 minutes through out the day and well into the evening.||My room had a balcony with a stunning view that reminded me of Switzerland and, facing East, you are greeted with superb sunrises, a perfect way to start the day. There are beautiful country walks and there is plenty of hills and forestry.||Lastly there was the bill - a double room en suite with breakfast and balcony for a single person comes to around £160 for a week and an extra £65 pounds for couples. With the flight by Norwegian from Gatwick you will struggle to spend £200 each all in. ||A truly wonderful experience and with all the history, thermal baths and excellent food and cafes, it makes for a very relaxing and pleasant holiday. My daughter and I enjoyed the hospitality of the Edelweiss on a recent 'dental trip' to Pilisvorosvar. It was a brisk 10-15 minute walk away from the dentists clinic, but we enjoyed this walk. A taxi was available if we needed one. The pension was styled like an Austrian chalet; it was clean and bright and each room had a balcony. We overlooked the beautifully kept neighbouring gardens, as the area is residential. We were there at a quiet time and there were very few fellow residents; we were given the freedom of the house and allowed to use the kitchen downstairs. They organised take away meals for us on the days we didn't feel like going out to eat. (The family own a restaurant across town, but only breakfast is served in the Edelweiss dining room) On other days we found lovely places to eat locally - or walked around the lake to Pilisistavan, where there is a lovely lakeside restaurant. The bus to Budapest City leaves from just outside the door and takes 40 minutes. It costs very little. ||Even if I wasn't going to Budapest on a dental trip, I'd consider staying in Pilisvorosvar and in the Edelweiss in particular, just for the complete relaxation, and yo be part of a beautiful little community. A lot of the locals speak German, and the area has an interesting history. I felt safe, welcome and extremely comfortable during my weeks stay. We used the in-house sauna, and the wifi was excellent, so we watched films on our iPads. ||Don't go if you want bright lights, noise and action. “Bien”||➖ Que no tenia aire acondicionado pero si ventilador, y en verano hace muchísima calor y se agradecía algo un poco mas potente en la habitación que un ventilador o por lo menos que el ventilador eche aire( es normal en esos modelos que tenían) por el resto no tengo queja. 😉||➕ La verdad el hotel bien, en relación limpieza y desayuno bien. El desayuno variado dentro de lo que cabe, tenían fiambre, leche, agua caliente para el te, mermeladas, queso, cereales, pan, y poco mas. El aparcamiento genial porque pudimos aparcar en la puerta del hotel ( justo en frente) ya que el hotel queda medio pegado a la carretera. Insonorizada la habitación, super amplían y cómoda, el baño limpio con sus toallas y tienen jabón de ducha y de manos. Me gusto mucho que tenía un balconcito con sus dos sillas, pero la verdad como solo nos quedamos una noche no lo aprovechamos, solo aprovechamos las vistas. En fin un...
