We arrived having booked a family room from photos showing a room though an arch in the photos. All communication from hotel was in Hungarian we had trouble reserving and booking and had to get the bride to book for all the rooms in our group of around 7 rooms. Our room was not as shown but a double and hunks in a room not big enough for 4 people. We complained and were given the 1st lot of English paperwork and told that this was the only room available and that the other family room was gone and more money. We were not told this on booking. The room we were given was only suitable for a couple it was no way big enough for a family of 4. |The shower had a curtain all round which meant the floor was soaking after each shower. The hairdryer which wasn’t listed on room facilities was however very good.| Reception didn’t speak even basic english so we were unable to sort the situation of the terrible room and had to make do with a totally unsuitable room.|English is a normal requirement in hotels we normally.stay in when travelling.|We ate in the hotel Friday evening the waiter spoke enough English to alter my meal slightly but I received the weirdest chips ever and very dry salmon. The burgers were ok.|We attended the wedding Saturday so did use restaurant in the evening.. |Sunday evening we tried again to eat in the restaurant but despite wedges being available with burgers I could not order them alone so had to suffer the weird chips again. Do not come here if u are veggie!|Breakfast was ok Saturday. Sunday some of our party did room service which was handy as no 1 wanted to rush down to breakfast. I had lovely eggy bread. Monday it was again ok. But not anything to get excited about. |Our youngest hardly ate whilst there as he didn’t like any food despite being use to travelling abroad and as a veggie I struggled.|The dark middle aged waiter was the only friendly member of staff and only reason for a reasonable score for service.|The pool table was a life safer on the Sunday keeping us all entertained between our exploring.|Plse bring mosquitoes spray plugs cream with u as despite using we were all bitten alive. |Most wine cellars were. Shut on the Sunday when we went wandering and only served wine and cheese plates. Despite having around 10 customers and more returning the 1 we visited shut at 9.30.|We would not return due to the room mix up and lack of...
Read more„Tuscan Spring in Villány Wine Region”||Spent 3days/2nights there with our friends. Rooms are neatly furnished, beds comfortable, bathrooms are well equipped and all very clean. The staff were also very friendly and helpful. ||Our package "Tuscan Spring in Villány” included a 5 course wine tasting experience within the hotel (allow a couple of hours to properly enjoy the wonderful wines of Villány wine region) and an estate visiting program to Mokos Cellar (owners of the hotel as well). Our package also included a walking tour through the so called „Black Hill” to the Vylyan Winery. The tour was a fantastic experience with nice people, breathtaking view and beautiful wines. ||After exploring the surrounding area during the day, we were looking forward to the fine dining experience in the hotel's restaurant. The dishes were all fantastic, paired up with fine redwines from Villány. Our wine tasting guide in the hotel (member of the winemaker family) spoke English very well, which we didnt experience at other places at the wineregion. While there, try the specialty of Mokos Cellar: the fruite wines (dessert wines made from 100 % local fruit), they are really delicious. ||||We very much enjoyed our stay there and would return next time when we visit the Villány Wine...
Read moreDepending on the route into Villany, the hotel will be a few minutes before you enter, or a few minutes after you leave Villany. Clean enough, the staff was a bit distant and it's tough to find the front door!! Make sure you discover the key 'fob' location early in your visit so you can let yourself in the dark of night! Nearby pub provided for some loud yelling late at night. Wander the nearby "pinze's", those rows of little white houses are actually all Wine Cellars!! If one of the doors is open, you might get invited in for a tour and a taste! We scored by meeting a winemaker who spent a day with us in his vineyards & in town wine store and the evening with he and his wife.. Hotel Cabernet was clean, dinner was above average, but breakfast was lacking (shoulder season, not enough guests to offer a decent breakfast?). We can't say enough about Villany! this is a NEW town, built to look old! the shops need to learn to sell tastes, versus entire 1dl glass, to enable guests to try lots of...
