Rooms were big enough, bed were confortable and showers were clean.||||The hostel is located less than 10 min away from Lake Balaton and offers an amazing place to have a drink and listen to a great music selection by the staff (Zsolt was always spot on with that part). The service by the staff is just great from check-in to check-out, special mention to Tom for that welcome we had and our last night in the hostel as well.||||No food during day time, even though a guest kitchen is available if you wish to cook your own breakfast and lunch. You have a small supermarket next door as well as a vegetable store next to it. If you need a bigger supermarket, ask for the COOP next to the tabacco shop, you can walk there and it takes 20 minutes.||||At night, the hostel offers all you can eat dinner for a good price. We had it 2 nights and the food was just great. The cook was always smiling and even accomodated the fact that one of us was vegetarian so he cooked an all you can eat dinner for him as well.||||After dinner, have some drinks at the bar, beer is good and cheap, the music is just perfect for the place and if you feel like it, try some local wines and palinka shots!||||All in all, we had a great stay at the hostel, the lake was amazing, the weather as well, and we couldn't ask for better staff!||||Keep being cool guys,||All...
Read moreThe hostel is located about 100 metres from Revfulop train station, which has regular services from Budapest, making the hostel very easy to reach. Upon arrival I did have to wait 30mins before the owner arrived, which was a little frustrating. The dorm itself was basic but comfortable. The bathroom worked but seemed a little tired. I was also a little concerned as there were no lockers or other secure area to store valuables. The door to the dorm was lockable, though security is easily breached if one of your dorm-mates forgets to lock the door. The wifi also doesn't reach the bedroom. There is a very basic kitchen connected to the bar for preparing food, however there is only one hot plate making it difficult to prepare more 'sophisticated' dishes such as pasta with sauce. It's not all doom and gloom however. The swimming spot in the lake is a five minute walk away and the hostel loans out bikes making it easy to explore the beautiful surroundings. Zoli, our host also provided us with a map and plotted a route for us to take, which included nearby points of interest, such as the Needlepoint rock formation. ||Overall, whilst the more high maintenance traveller may have a few issues, those who are prepared to rough it a little will find this place caters to all...
Read moreThe staff were friendly, the guests did like to bang their doors throughout the night though. The beds were awful, actually the worst bed I have ever slept in, and I have been to a lot of hostels before. Whatever reality you are from you cannot call that a mattress, about as thick as a Mars bar. Even though there is a quiet period between 23:00 and 9:00 apparently that doesn't extend to the bar downstairs that is part of the hostel. The blues concert eventually finished at 2am and could be heard loudly in all the hostel rooms. Overall not a great night stay. Also the toilets and showers are disgusting, and there was no hot water in the evening or morning so be prepared for a cold...
