We spent 2 nights at this phenomenal place, the first couple hours with my girlfriend, and then another two days with my fiancé - we got engaged! :)
I thought there'd be no better place for two nature lovers than this secret hideaway to celebrate our love and our time together, and this place did not disappoint.
Whether sunshine or rain, morning or evening, this place had so much to offer that we had an absolutely delightful time and came home saying it was one of the best places we've stayed at in Hungary.
When it was raining outside we cozied up in the house and enjoyed the sauna, while sipping some excellent Istvándy wines.
Later, we were watching the starry sky sitting in the steaming jakuzzi, talking until the morning, savouring every moment we had in this paradise on earth.
Although every single squareinch of this house has been prepared with thoroughness and care, it's impossible to compliment everything in a short review. However, what has to be highlighted is the breakfast.
We received a fully packed basket each morning with everything this region has to offer: pastries still warm, fresh veggies, homemade jams, milk, freshly squeezed orange juice, and some really delicious charcuterie - with a quality much better than that of 4 star hotels.
Overall, if you wish to have a weekend where you can recharge your batteries, pamper yourself, and enjoy some romantic time with your significant other while admiring the beutiful view of Lake Balaton and the Hungarian grey cattle herd, do visit this place. You definitely won't regret it.
Thank you Istvándy family for providing the perfect destination for our engagement. We hope to...
Read moreDo not be fooled by the reviews here. This place is not as great as some would claim.
I can start off by admitting that the view is indeed beautiful.
But that's about all I can say that is positive about this place.
The staff lacks the professional touch, which means they do not make you feel appriciated that you chose to dine and spend your money at their resturants - quite the opposite. They, especially the macho-dude, gives off the an irritated vibe. As if he is too good to be serving you.
Then there's the waiting time. After we had been waiting for almost 2 hours we decided it's time to leave. And not once during this waiting period did anyone in the staff come and apologize for the long wait - why? Because, as I stated before, they lack the professional touch.
When we informed them that we would be leaving they insisted that we stay because the food would be done shortly.
At this point you would expect the food to be something incredible - since they act like they're the créme de la créme.
But sadly no, it's nothing special. It's barely above average.
And also, you sit on hard tree planks, because why would the staff offer you some couching?
And the price is a scam. So all in all, worst place I've been...
Read moreAMAZING PLACE! This resort has only 5 guest houses, each nestled into the hillside (mine, no. 4, was completely surrounded by trees, offering total privacy). Every house comes with its own private jacuzzi and sauna, a fully equipped kitchenette, a Nespresso coffee machine, and a fridge stocked with chilled wine and soda - perfect for making a proper Hungarian fröccs.
The bathroom is thoughtfully stocked with extra toiletries and healthcare items (like toothpaste, shaver and female products), just in case you forgot something at home.
Every detail is carefully designed - you can feel that the Birtok is all about creating a luxurious, next-level experience. The kitchen tastes Michelin-class, and the breakfast basket is so generous it could feed you for the entire day.
I knew nothing about Istvándy Birtok before arriving, but I was blown away and completely spoiled. Dani, the owner, is an amazing and fun guy.
Thank you for this unforgettable experience. Hope to...
