Right in the heart of the Golden Circle sights of SE-Iceland, and in a truly lovely setting, we had reserved a charming cottage for a single night, purchased groceries for some home cooking, and were looking forward to a relaxing night with friends, a soothing hot tub (!), some wine, and a bit of TV. However, we discovered that our cottage was severely lacking in essential kitchen items, such as cookware, salt and pepper, and glassware. This presented a bit of a challenge as we attempted to prepare dinner with the limited tools we had, resulting in creative solutions like spaghetti with sauce in a single pan, a la boyscout style! Our IKEA fold-out table could barely fit four of us, the hot tub never got warm enough, and the room just wasn't relaxing. We slept well on OK beds and bedding, towels, water, and heating were in order. It just wasn't the luxury experience we had hoped for. Breakfast, on the other hand, was a delight, with excellent service and a hearty spread served in the central house. Bravo! The restaurant/bar/lounge area is also a nice touch, where you can grab a bite, a drink, and more. The menu might not be everyone's cup of tea, and the prices are a bit on the steep side (expect to spend around 6,000-8,000 ISK per person). Overall, while the food and service were good, the experience fell a bit short. It's a great spot to gather with family and friends while exploring the stunning beauty of South Iceland.

Absolutely loved this hotel! Instructions for the hot tubs could be better, they are empty until you fill them up. Look for the panel to the left as you walk into the building you’re staying in, they will fill up with cold water at first but soon become extremely warm so keep an eye on the temperature, they need a little babying until you get the right temp (none of this information was given to us at the desk- it was trial and error). Netflix was available in the room, the bed was comfy, room was nicely decorated, common areas nicely furnished, lots of room to spread out. A great place for a wedding party as booking an entire building would be a fantastic way to keep everyone together. Didn’t hurt that we saw the northern lights from our room! The hotel should consider dimming/turning off the outdoor lights when the northern lights are active. Totally understand the need to be sure no one is walking in the dark- especially when everyone is looking up- but it would be great to have a spot on the property where there are no artificial lights.

We are currently still in the hotel however I have to put a review on now as it is the most beautiful hotel I have ever been in. Its so quiet and the views from our room is incredible! The room is beautiful, it has a cabin feel but still quite modern. The bed is so comfy and when you wake up in the morning you get the most perfect view! Their is a hot tub which is perfect to sit in when the northern lights are out, snowing or just in general. The location of the hotel is perfect as its in the Golden Circle, and only a 15 minute away from Selfoss. It is more isolated which is perfect if you want to get views of the northern lights and love a peaceful setting. The food is great! A breakfast buffet in the morning which offers a range of hot and cold food. Dinner at the restaurant tastes lovely and is super cosy after a long hike or travelling around Iceland. All the staff are so nice and welcoming, plus they call your room when the aurora is visible. If I could rate it above 5/5 I genuinely would.

THIS REVIEW IS FOR THE RESTAURANT ONLY. Definitely the most expensive meal I've paid for in Iceland thus far (nearly $300 USD) and for one of the worst meals I've ever eaten. My husband and I have been honeymooning in Iceland for nearly a week and we decided to treat ourselves to what we hoped would be a nice dinner after a wonderful day of hiking and sightseeing. We love to travel, be adventurous and we love to eat. We are definitely not picky individuals and embrace the nuances of every place we go, but this restaurant just came across as a huge slap in the face. Just to be clear, my husband and I did not stay here so we have no idea what the accommodations are like (although thy did appear to be quite nice). However, I just interpreted this restaurant to be an insanely overpriced establishment, taking advantage of the guests staying there. To be specific, my husband and I ordered the 3 course meal: Lobster bisque soup, he got the lamb, I got the cod, and the buffet dessert. The lamb cuts were terrible and overall severely overcooked. The "icelandic" cod was definitely previously frozen and so underseasoned it seemed as though you were just chewing freezer burned paper towel wads. The vegetables, also tasting of freezer burn, were all brown (broccoli, peppers and cauliflower). We took a few bites, were sad, and when our friendly waiter came by to ask how our meal was, we couldn't lie. He offered to replace our, meals but we knew that any restaurant willing to put out what we had received, would have no clue how to fix it. We kindly just asked for the bill, and and swallowed the $300 tab, and grumbled all the way to our room . We hate returning food as I know the fault usually falls on the waiter, and he was quite kind, so just figured we would seek retribution by warning other travelers to not make the same mistake we made. THERE ARE PLENTY OF OTHER PLACES IN ICELAND TO HAVE A GOOD AND MEMORABLE MEAL. We hope for the sake of others, this was an isolated incident, but I...

Fantastic hotel with larger units more akin to small condos, incredible value and great location for exploring. We flew in early and went to Blue Lagoon, then took the Southern route to the hotel, knowing we would use it as a base for exploring for the time we were there. We were about a 40 minute drive from the excellent Laugarvatn Fontana Hot Springs, and 25 minutes from Þingvellir National Park.

We were upgraded from a studio apartment to what seemed like a full house, including 4 bedrooms (3 of which we didn't use), a gorgeous full kitchen with nice finishes, full fridge with a great mini bar, beautiful oven, and all the accessories you might need. If you plan to cook, you will need condiments, etc. The hot tub was simple to use, and so divine. The sitting area was beautiful, as was the dining area we kept immaculate. We loved the restaurant, and the breakfast was incredible with endless options. The service from both desk, management, and restaurant were exceptional. They really go out of there way to please. We were there slightly off season, after a long winter. It was quiet, and they aimed to please. They did not miss their mark. Thank you... the only wish is that we had stayed longer.

We loved this restaurant for our incredible dinner that satisfied my curiosity of Iceland cuisine, as well as our need for a bit of familiar comfort food at the end of a long commute and travel day. The restaurant is immaculate, and decorated in a cute way with international flags, pink tablecloths, and plates along the back wall. Appetizers, main course were both delicious, as were the drinks from the bar.

The breakfast is not to be missed... a huge selection of endless delights. I've added some pics to help out. It was delicious, and incredibly convenient as a guest...

My wife and I just got back from our honeymoon in Iceland and staying here was unfortunately the worst part of our week long trip. This title of a ‘luxury hotel’ is highly misconceiving so please be aware. When we checked in the woman at the front desk was unfriendly and had us waiting as she was prioritizing another phone call, which would be fine, if it wasn’t on her AirPods through her personal phone. Every question we asked seemed to be an inconvenience and a bother, her smug attitude was distasteful and made us feel unwelcomed. Getting a massage wasn’t an option as one of masseuses was away on vacation while the other masseuse they had, they were unsure of her schedule of the upcoming days. Our dinner at the restaurant was great from service and starters until we got entrees. Both entrees were overcooked, my wife ordered the filet, medium, which came out medium well to well, and my lamb ordered medium rare came out well. I couldn’t enjoy my dish so I brought it to my servers attention who had my dish prepared again only for it to be cooked well done again. We were supposed to stay there for 3 nights but after speaking with our travel agent and with Maria, the manager(who was very accommodating and tried rectifying our experience and stay), we got a full refund on our last night there and were able to stay elsewhere. For the prices we paid at the restaurant and ‘luxury’ hotel, it was nothing short of a dissatisfying and...
