This is a great little hotel in a rural area of Iceland with very few accommodation options. They have kitchen facilities which were very helpful given that there are also few dining options in this area as well. Pro tip: stop and pick yourself up dinner groceries (maybe a Grandioso - most popular pizza in Norway!) at the grocery store in Blönduos. Be sure to research the hours - they close early (4pm on Sundays!). Travelers - be aware - the owner “advertises” leaving free items for you to cook for breakfast. Be prepared to arrive early or scavenge (or just bring your own). During our stay, one group of guests took over the kitchen and prepared their breakfast and lunch ( egg salad sandwiches ) with the supplies left for the guests (🤯) which left us and the other guests trying to politely manage sharing the last 2 pieces of bread and dry cereal. If this happens contact the owner who is willing to help. We did not know this until after our experience. In our communication with the owner, she clearly knows this has been a problem but has yet to remedy it (would recommend starting with a note in the kitchen stating 1 egg per guest please). Other than that - cute place. As noted in other reviews, the water does have a strong sulfur smell - but hey, what do you expect -...
Read moreWe stayed at this beautiful guesthouse in Iceland and absolutely loved it! The view was breathtaking, especially from our triple room, which faced the open mountains. The room was spacious, clean, and very comfortable, perfect for relaxing after a day of exploring. The guesthouse has some lovely touches: there’s a hot tub and sauna, and you’ll also find some horses around the property, which really adds to the charm! They offer a well-equipped shared kitchen and an absolutely gorgeous, large dining room where you can help yourself to tea and water. In summer, they also provide a free breakfast, simple, but beautifully prepared, thoughtfully presented, and very tasty. This place made us feel completely at home. If I return to Iceland, I would definitely...
Read moreWait, no 6-star rating? This place is magnificent. The place has just been renovated and is very clean. The room we book had enough room for our tons of luggages and ourselves. Bathroom size was generous. The eating area allows you to make your food but make sure you clean up after yourself as it's a common area. We went to Hard Wok Cafe (a very good place to eat) in Skagafjörður - it's only about a 15minute drive. The views from this hotel is spectacular and if you like farm animals, they're here too. Also, they have dogs which may greet you when you arrive. My daughter had to restrain one of the dogs as I was trying to maneuver our car and did not want to hit them. A place worth staying and I highly...
