It appears as though this guesthouse at one time provided a gracious welcome, but there has likely been a change in ownership since 2019, the last time it sported a current travel award sticker on the door. I feel very bad for the owners, as it appears as though both the guesthouse and the farm are hanging on by a thread. |The former lobby for check-in was now filled with discarded furniture in various stages of disrepair. Check my picture versus the profile picture! The property was littered everywhere one looked with trash like old tires, rusting broken equipment, old lumber, and broken-down farm buildings. The hot tub was empty and dirty. Inside the guesthouse building, although the one bathroom had an up-to-date sink and vanity, the shower was filthy with an old accumulation of soap scum residue all over the shower and the glass enclosure. Each room had a shelf in the refrigerator. Aside from this, there was a drawer labeled "breakfast" which had one old lime in a bowl. Also available were some jars of things likely discarded by previous visitors. This is not the same as providing breakfast! And again with reference to the profile pictures - there was no dessert left by the owner for the guests! The picture of the fresh rolls...
Read moreMy family stayed at Minna-Mosfell the first week of August 2021. We were originally supposed to take this trip in June of 2020 but the pandemic caused us to push back plans a few times. Sigga was gracious and understanding with every email as I originally thought we could come Aug 2020, then June 2021, and finally August 2021. Our time at the guest house was wonderful. Sigga wore a mask every time we engaged her (my children are not old enough to be vaccinated.) She was respectful of our wish to keep our boys safe on this trip. She stocked our fridge with fresh eggs from her chickens, bread, jam, fruit, milk, coffee, etc. She helped give directions to a local grocery store, so we could pack lunches before venturing out to explore. She also gave directions on local ATMs, so we could get cash to pay for our visit. I highly recommend this BNB. It's in the center of all that you might want to see (the Golden Circle, the Snæfellsnes Peninsula, Vik, etc.) The rooms are clean, the kitchen is well stocked, and the owners are so kind. Thank you for a safe and joyous visit! We loved showing our boys your...
Read moreI don't know the previous owners and they got raving reviews, but surely the new owners of this family-run 'farm guest house' do them perfectly justice. I was warmly welcomed by the whole family including dog and cat, and they got out fo their way to make my stay comfortable. The upper floor is for the three guest rooms who share one bathroom. It's very cosy and clean and the lounge area has splendid views across the valley. There was plenty of food in the fridge for a DIY breakfast and on the first day I even got pancakes. The highlight was of course the hot tub (it can get really hot and then you have to wait for it to cool down!) - sitting in the steaming water whilst snow and wind is howling around you it s gotta be the best thing in Iceland. On day one I caught the Northern Lights nearby in Thingvellir. I hope to be back in summer. Thank you for a...
