Florican Cottage — Hotel in Assam

We had booked 2 rooms for 3 nights at Florican (2 nights Deluxe room and one night standard) on the basis of a highly reliable Gypsy service provider at Manas, Mr. Ajit Roy, (+919910814201). It was one of our most successful trip to Manas. First, the booking was very smooth (over phone with Mr. Bubul Nath). The airport pick up and drop from Guwahati was provided by the Manas local Ertiga driver, Mr. Khanidra Pathak (+919365332519) who is also very reliable and reasonable. The rooms in the Deluxe room was okay and clean (you have to ask them to clean on daily basis). The TV was working in Deluxe rooms as we could see the IPL cricket but it was not working in Standard room. The standard room was a smaller cottage kind of place. The food was okay and made to order. Breakfast was simple Puri & Bhaji or Bread and egg with Banana. The place is nice and very convenient to reach the entry gate. We had taken Gypsy safari for Bansbari gate and had the opportunity of seeing Bengal Florican as well as Elephants and Rhinos and Bisons (Indian Gaur) during morning and evening safaris. We saw herds of elephants in Bansbari area. Next day, Mr. Ajit Roy took us to see the Golden Langur at Kakoijara area. We could see them in the village as well as in the nearby forest areas. It was a very good experience. We left early at about 6AM from Manas and reached the Kakoijana after about 2 hours or so. Mr. Shankar (+916900850890) of Kakoijana guided us to the Langurs. It was an excellent experience and Shankar is a local person and runs a small homestay. We had carried our breakfast and we ate the same at his place. We returned to Manas at about 1PM and in the afternoon Mr, Ajit took us to Bhuyapada entry gate. The gate is about 45 minutes drive from Bansbari but it is worth driving. We saw hundred of Elephants as Bisons, swamp deers, Rhinos, etc. from very close quarters. We also saw Bengal Florican as Bhuyapada is a pure grassland area and all animals are clearly visible. It was a great experience of spending time at Florical cottage as we walked around the place. The people are very nice and helpful. We could get the snap of Chestnut Starlings near the Cottage. It was a memorable trip. Thanks to Florical people, Ajit Roy and Khanindra - all extremely helpful guys. We had earlier used the services of Mr. Ajit and my friends have also visited Manas and stayed at Florican and used the services of Mr. Ajit. A very Good trip. Looking forward to visit again in...

I visited Manas last week in mid Jan wid my 2 friends.We stayed at Florican cottage for 2 days 3 nights during which we took 1 elephant safari in the morning and 2 full day safaris.The cottages are well maintained ,staff is friendly and food is gud. Manas national park is the most complete forest I have visited.A tiger reserve,elephant reserve,biosphere reserve and Unesco natural world heritage site.Located on the foothills of eastern Himalayas and the borderline of bhutan,Scenic grasslands..dense forests..marshlands and river banks alongside the foothills of Himalayas..this forest has it all.. The best way to enjoy the forest is to take a full day safari(6000 inr)..which takes u to Bhutan also through the royal manas which is in Bhutan..We enjoyed the jungle so much we took another full day safari but this tym we stayed whole day in the forest covering the whole perimeter which was just mesmerizing...The safaris are flexible ,not so much time bound,all arranged by mr Lama the incharge of Florican cottage. sightings of tigers are rare although we saw pug marks of a tiger..we were told there are 35 tigers which is not much over an area of 500sqkms...rhinos and wild elephants are easily spotted..with many rare birds also like the hornbill...
