Hilltop lodge — Hotel in Assam

If you ask me, where can I get a paradise like experience while being on Earth? My answer would be : Here at this place, called "Hilltop lodge". You should definitely book your stay here when you visit Guwahati. It's named after a lodge but it gives more of a British style bungalow + safe & a home-like feeling overall. A few things I would like to note down here. I hope someday, someone might find it helpful. 👇🏻 This hilltop lodge is located at Kharguli Hills, which itself is a posh area of Guwahati. And somewhere you might feel it's a little far from the main central area while you head towards it, in the beginning. But trust me, the view, the environment and the experience is worth every penny.

You easily get shared Autos nearby in just 2-3 mins of walking distance from the stay, if you're heading towards any central area. And if you book an Uber, it just comes around Rs.120-250/- depending upon the distance of 6-12km stretch. And come-on someone choosing Uber instead of shared-vehicle can absolutely afford that rate.

Talking about food and hygiene, you will literally forget any other restaurant food once you have the taste of the food they serve. The caretaker of this place. He himself cooks for every guest. My Goodness, during our stay we usually were out in the day-hours, so we had lunch and dinner often outside. But this sudden day when we had dinner at their place. Every cuisine and everything. It literally tasted so delicious. It had that taste of Home Cooked meal with the feeling of a 5-star restaurant. I wish we had more meals at their place. Ramesh Uncle(the caretaker) is not less than a MasterChef I'd say. ❤️ And for the hygiene : the rooms, the commodities, the washrooms and the entire area of their place is top-notch hygienic and we found it always clean during our stay.

And, yes the best part about this place is Ramesh uncle itself, and of course the other staff too. He is a man in his mid-50s I assume, but no-doubt he's a person with the energy of a 20-year old, his sense of humour, knowledge that he shared during our sudden talks and a positive energy that he possesses can win your heart easily. When I say this about someone, I say this with experience. I have been a traveller back in the days, past 6-7 years ago. I also worked in tourism for a couple of years. Also had stayed in many places throughout Northeast and Mainland India and have come across a number of different minded people. It's the first glance of a person or the first exchange of a few words. It's just like once you enter a room and the kind of energy that hits you. I somehow can read people and the energy that they possess. Well here, Ramesh uncle had that very delightful and friendly energy from the start. From the very beginning of those few exchanges of words. He wasn't that way just with us but with everyone. He perhaps, is a sweet hearted person. I assure you, if you visit their place. "You will return back, finding a new friend. A friend like Ramesh Uncle" May you have an abundance of good health and that lovely smile always❤️

Okay, so for the people wanting to know if it's comfortable to be here with your partner, boyfriend or girlfriend. The thing is I stayed at their place with my girlfriend for couple of days. Even before booking anywhere I was conscious of booking a stay where she feels more comfortable than I would do. Her well-being was important to me. And this place hilltop lodge gave us that homely-welcoming feeling from the very start, even the locality felt polite and positive. The scenic view of the Brahmaputra from the hills and those evening walks around the place made things more romantic and positive between us. I believe it's the place that plays a major role in connecting souls more. We stayed in the property for 2 nights in the x-mas week in Dec-2019. We were 8 families so we booked the rooms in advance and also booked the breakfast with the package so that we do have the luxury to have our breakfast inside rooms with small kids, family and friends to save time in morning.|| ||This property has two part, one is the old but well maintained building with lots of cosy furniture, photo frames. The rooms are big but not sophisticated in this old building. The new building has 6 rooms with a beautiful two side open big common balcony with lots of chairs and a mid-size dining. The rooms & bathrooms are small in the new building but overall clean and linen quality was also very good. They have an aqua-guard system for drinking water, so if you don't want to buy packaged water, you can have water from there. The food here is too costly and only a simple thali with Rice, Dal, Mix Veg, Chicken will cost you INR 350. WAIT - Don't judge by reading till this point.|| ||We spoke with the owner Rohit when we 1st choose this property around Aug-2019 for our Dec-2019 trip. We had decided to opt for the room only at the beginning and later we decided to go with Room+Breakfast. But suddenly after the 1st night, Rohit denied that we have a package with breakfast. Fortunately we have the email communication which we immediately forwarded to him and then he accepted to provide us the breakfast. This hurts us very much. Over phone the person was so generous but how can a person forget about a big package like this when we repeated told him that we have breakfast included in our package (before forwarding the email communication).|| ||The owner also recommended us a GuestHouse in Shillong (Havi's Home aka Elegant Studio or Guest House, Mylliem) and we booked the hotel by trusting him and paid through him; which came out a cheater. We have been harassed badly at that Shillong Guesthouse and also we came to know that Rohit also got some commission from that booking. So I will not recommended anybody to take suggestion from this owner about any other property as you may be in deep trouble.|| ||This property is little far from city and you will not able to park a 26 seater Traveler there. The Guwahati station is 5km away from here and Airport is almost 26km far.|| ||Overall, though the rooms are OK, but we did not like the attitude at all. If the hotel did not willing to keep their promise (we had to show the written email communication for breakfast), I will recommended to stay away from that property. We all are experienced travelers and we do travel a lot everywhere. We spoke with Rohit so many times regarding our trip & package (via phone, Whatsapp, email), but it is really unexpected while started denying to provide the breakfast. Someone said, you should not judge a person over phone until you meet him; its absolutely true.|| ||In addition, after our Shillong stay (which we booked due to Rohit's recommendation), now we are feeling that we have been badly harassed & cheated at Shillong hotel due to the owner of Hilltop Lodge and he intentionally put us in a bad situation to get the huge commission from the Shillong hotel for a big group like us.|| ||Rooms advise - If you really don't have any option other that staying here, stay at the new building. You have to climb almost 60-70 stairs to reach at the top floor room of...

My recent stay at Hilltop Lodge Homestay was nothing short of exceptional. From the moment we arrived, we were warmly greeted by the Manager Ramesh ji, whose genuine hospitality set the tone for the entire experience.

Throughout our stay, the manager, Mr. Ramesh, went above and beyond to ensure our comfort. Not only did he efficiently manage the operations of the lodge, but he also surprised us with his culinary skills, preparing delicious meals that surpassed my expectations.

What truly made our stay unforgettable was the warmth and kindness of the entire family. From Mr. Ranjan's welcoming demeanor to Mrs. Ranjan's thoughtful gestures, we felt like a part of their family during our time at the lodge.

The cozy accommodations, combined with the stunning views from the hilltop location, provided the perfect backdrop for relaxation and rejuvenation. Whether it was enjoying a meal or engaging in heartfelt conversations with the family, every moment spent at Hilltop Lodge Homestay was cherished.
