Manohari The Tea Retreat — Hotel in Assam

I stayed here for a night on 20th April 2024 with my family and our experience was above average. We were given a room on the first floor and the room was nice, clean and comfy with all the modern amenities. All the rooms have a balcony too. The size of the room was good too. However, the mattress was too soft for our liking. We had evening snacks, dinner and breakfast and the quality of the dishes were satisfactory. The dishes were freshly cooked and the proportion served were good. The prices of the items on the menu were reasonable too. It was good of the staff to apologies for the construction of an extended wing and kids play ground in front of our room. We didn’t have any trouble because of the construction.

What they could improve on is the service of the staff. Though the staff were courteous and very helpful but many a times they misunderstood our food order and ended up serving something else. Also, one their staffs did not know what tapping a credit card is. A little bit of training will improve that, I guess. Also, the breakfast buffet menu needs an upgrade. Another point to note that even though I booked our stay almost a week ahead, the receptionist could not find my name on their guest list at the time of check-in. As they had multiple unoccupied rooms we were easily accommodated. A little process improvement is needed too.

Overall, a nice and calm place to enjoy some peaceful time...

This place is a bit in the outskirts from the town. The ambience was good, but the service's really questionable. The Desk officer/Manager/the two persons sitting in the cash counter of the restaurant are not cooperative, after seeing such response from those thought of leaving the place right away but we did not have any other option rather than staying as we were hungry and we were tired. Waited there for 1hour outside as there were no empty tables inside and they don't serve food in the lawn where they have ample sitting space. We registered our name and number so that they would call us inside but they didn't even give a call to say that the table's are empty which was very disappointing again from the staffs. The serving time was horrible. Not a flawless customer experience.

Pros: • beautiful restaurant with good ambiance • quality of food's acceptable • good place for the ones who like taking photos

Cons: • poor behavior of restaurant management (hospitality) • poor quality of restaurant service • over priced • poor bathroom sanitation • poor customer service

I had booked 2 rooms, well in advance for stay on 16/04/2024 , and the same was confirmed by the hotel person over the phone . But as we were about to reach the hotel on the given day , we made a call regarding the check-in time confirmation and then we came to know about the change of rooms ,the booked rooms were allotted to another guests. We were traveling from Jorhat and at the time of booking we clearly mentioned them that we need that particular room only and the same was confirmed by the hotel also, but such is the quality of service that they didn't bother to let us know about the change of the room on prior basis and just said that we will shift you to another room which was eventually small and which would have ultimately are in two different floors (we booked two rooms). Mistake can happen sometimes but generally in good hotels/resort we get upgrades in the room category, But he was rigid that can give only those two rooms. Ultimately we had to change our hotel .
