Warmhearted hosts
I have spent 2 of the most incredible weeks of my life here in Puroni Bheti Tea and Farm Retreat. I enrolled in a permaculture design course and met some amazing people from different places of the world. Everyone coming together with one goal in mind: to start a greener life for the world. but the amazing thing was that I had a personal experience and that is the reason this will remain one of the most memorable places I've visited. The family was extremely friendly. Rooms were spacious, comfortable beds. Modern style bungalow with vintage interiors. The food we ate was so fresh, even allowing cook-it-yourself service and every morning I was overjoyed to take a walk on the grassy lawns as the birds and other wildlife passed through the forest. They have created such a paradise! They were incredibly friendly like our families and friends.Mr and Mrs Barooah, esp Dev, were fun hosts and truly welcomed us into their lives. They made us feel right at home and we all had good ol' chats with Mr. Barooa, whilst having breakfast, lunch and also dinner of delicious delicacy, he was a wealth of knowledge and very honest with his suggestions on different topics. They have a very cute and playful dog, Aika, amongst all pets . Im very thankful that they opened up their small paradise to us. Our days were jam packed with lectures, hands-on farming activities, and yoga,farm-to-table meals, bonfire, karaoke nights and so much more. The Barooahs, have turned their property into a thriving farm with bio-intensive gardens, food forests, animal husbandry and nursery. We came as strangers but left with so much more than just some course notes. If u want tranquility, serenity, Peace of mind, pure leisure.. Then this place is for you.

Read moreUnfortunate experience with Puroni Bheti @ Jorhat. The website mentions plenty of descent snaps and activities at the property. On communication the owner and manager also assured the same. Surprisingly on visit we found the manager is missing from the place, the place is managed only by one guy … Mukti ( a very forthcoming gentleman). The rooms offered to us were far different from what was promised on website (snaps of rooms assured different rooms). It was very difficult for a single person the manage the guests, even there was no one to provide drinking water … forget tea or coffee. Kids had tough time as The dinner was served after lot of requests and delay. The rooms were smelly and the linens could have been clean. There were no activities as claimed on the website and on enquiry the manager gave a dumb reply that he is trace and it should have been clarified from the owner. On the next day after ordering the breakfast… the breads had ants all over … and finally the burnt roasts were served ….only one staff had a difficult time to manage all the guests and we had to leave without completing the breakfast. In all, inspite of a descently located property and spacious rooms it was a horrible experience due to lack of interest of manager and carelessnesses of owner towards the comfort of guests. Strongly not recommended for family travellers and fun loving people...
Read moreIt started from checking in when we came to know that there was no one to attend to us except kitchen help since that property manager himself was on vacation. He tried to fool us by giving their store room as executive deluxe room. After three phone calls and lot of arguments he finally agreed to us for giving liveable room.
Then came the activities part there are some 10-15 activities listed and there is absolutely non. No bicycles., no pizza making, no tea estate visit, no guide for that, no tea picking. For the heck of activities you are supposed to walk around this property by urself. When we again called the manager he told us we should have told him beforehand to arrange for the activities and he can’t do anything since he was on vacation. Food was miserable as well and the only guy was helping us with everything was the kitchen help. Even to switch on common lighting there was no one and we had to help ourself
All in on worst place to stay and it’s completely unethical on the owner and manager side to treat their guests this way. We finally paid 15000 for or two days stay but it was not even worth for 2000.
My advice is to close this property for guests if the owner is not interested in offering basic...
