This is a nice place for staying away from city. While this is a nice get away place, it is useful for air transit travellers as Bangalore International Airport is close. The resort is having two separate buildings, the one which is the reception area, and suites along with restaurant which is called Dhaba. The deluxe AC rooms are in the adjacent building. Around 70 kms from Bangalore, located on Doddaballapur Main Road, the resort has good ambience, great and tasty food and ample parking space. While the suites are large, the deluxe rooms also provides sufficient space for even an extra bed. Although the deluxe rooms are comparatively old fashioned, they are refurbished well enough to suit the new requirements. The bathroom provides a jacuzzi and are cleanly maintained. The restaurant Dhaba has a Dhaba remake structure that is beautifully designed. Food is fantastic, with a very typical Dhaba taste. Bar is attached. Room service gives a quick food delivery. Staff are very helpful, courteous and oblige to any tiny query. During this pandemic times, the COVID 19 precautionary measures are very well followed with even the detailed information update from the guests who check in are taken for any further enquiry. If there was one small drawback that we felt was the sudden stoppage of water supply as and when there are power fluctuations and when power swiches to generator. It does become very tough without even a tiny drop of water. So in case one is staying at this resort it is better to request a bucket and mug, beforehand and have water filled in it. Overall it a decent place proving worthy for its price.

I came for the BANDLAND Music Festival 2023 at the Embassy Riding School Grounds, to watch the bands especially DEEP PURPLE among other Bands. When I searched on Google, I found Ramanashree California Resort. My musical taste told me to book the hotel as it has a name similar to Hotel California, the iconic song by the Eagles. I later came to know from friends that it is over 30 years old too that added to the charm of booking. The rooms were spacious, great service from the staff, especially Pramod who effortlessly helped out with a smile. The Dhaba with its cuisine is a restaurant which included on its walls the classic front end of an Indian truck (lorry), complete with the turbaned Punjabi truck driver at the wheel. People were taking selfies sitting with the truck driver, like a selfiepoint! Amazing, mainly because it was built 30 years ago, when mobiles were not around. The food was as tasty as Dhaba food could get and I highly recommend their Tandoori Chicken, made without the usual red colour. I thought it looked natural and was delicious! As I checked out and Pramod put my bag in the car, I was reminded of the song 'Hotel California' again.. ' You can check out anytime you like, but you can never leave...' Leave I have to, but I'll be back for sure at the California Resort. Definitely the place to stay if you are planning to come for the BANDLAND Music Festival like me. Next time, I will come with my friend who designed and installed the Indian Truck into the wall!

The positives, breakfast buffet was good, rooms were quite, sort of, the property is huge nearby Yehlanka, location is sort of good. The TV works with appropriate channels, unlike any other hotel or resort I have stayed in. Bads: The swimming pool, even though almost standard 25 mtrs, has too much chlorine that could burn your eyes and cause skin acne if stayed for too long. The pool is cold, heater would have been good The rooms were small and with the premium charged, the rooms could have been bigger and cleaner. They do not let you even carry the food from Zomato from outside, they have elaborate menu however does not have anything and if you want to order something in, Zomato is not allowed and neither can you walk to the gate and carry it with you. Thankfully eateries are kind of nearby so we could manage. The tennis court, badminton court etc were not maintained well. Sauna does not work Gym seems to be converted from Men's rest room and does not seem to be maintained well. Room doesn't have glass, they just have 2 cups However I may be nitpicking with the previous point but overall my stay was average at the best.

I wish I had stayed Home instead of going to this so called resort(Just a Bigger Hotel Only)!!!

Tl:Dr; Avoid this place if you can! Worst staff, bad facility!! Would suggest though to Read through!

1st thing...This place is hardly a resort. It's just a place which is able to squeeze in a tennis court cum basketball court and a pool big enough and a garden. Yet none of this would have mattered if the hospitality and management were respectful towards their guests. We booked a overnight stay with breakfast and lunch the next day. Next day after checkout we were moving in for lunch when the manager told us that the Lunch(Brunch) that day was a special one and we have paid for a normal lunch. We had made the booking 5 days in advance and here they are telling us we cannot eat after having paid the money because it's a more expensive lunch. That's how they treat their guests!!!

Wait...This is not it!!! This was just the start.

After having sternly telling them that we are not responsible for your goof up and we won't pay anything extra for the lunch they agreed after around 30 minutes of waiting. Then came the Food & Beverages Manager "Mr Ronit" telling us that the restaurant is full now and they would give us a table in 15 minutes time. We agreed to wait. Within 5 minutes we saw some guests going out and another batch of guests going in. Curious I went in and what I found out was beyond comprehension.

THE WHOLE DAMN RESTAURANT WAS EMPTY WITH ONLY 2-3 TABLES OCCUPIED.

Now we were furious beyond our wit and when confronted with the above fact a "Mr. Gopi" another F&B Manager asked us to talk politely after being treated like this having fighting for the food that too after paying the money in Advance.

You would think that this would be it. Wait.....

We asked for a refund for the Food as we cannot any more think of eating in this god forbidden place filled with Idiots but no, we were to face a last act of Stupidity.

While booking the place, I had enquired of adding a dinner as well which they said would cost us 600+taxes extra. When asked for a refund for the Lunch which we paid for, "Mr Ronit" the F&B manager said the refund will be room wise and not PAX wise which would be 600 per room for 4 rooms :) :P

We were exasperated like anything and couldn't even think what to speak to these bunch of idiots. After a few very loud responses from us, they came to their senses and refunded us 600/PAX.

@Fellow Travelers: If you have option please book another place else if you don't have any choice then do note the below points and follow them to the "T" Carry your own Towel. The towel provided by them is full of LINT. Forget about playing Table tennis, lawn tennis. All you would be able to play would be Badminton given that they don't complain that some guest has taken the rackets to their room. Please do carry nylon clothes if you want to use the swimming pool. They insist on Nylon clothes so that for unsuspecting guests they can sell swim clothes. None of the Fridges provided in the rooms work. We booked 4 rooms, None worked. The staff is non-responsive expect for the service boys who are kind enough to try and sort the issues out for you. One AC was not working. We had to call them 4 times to get it to work. Food at this place is OK. Nothing to praise about. So don't opt for food if you have option. Order online. There are tons of great options nearby especially "Maa Da Dhaba" veg food(Awesome food).

@Management: You don't deserve it yet a BIG THANK YOU for the embarrassment we have to bear!! Hope we don't cross path again. You guys still owe me the Taxes part...

Where to start: The name says California and the inside says Punjabi Dhaba theme. There is also Palm Springs printed on the walls. There is a wall of clocks but no California or Pacific Standard Time. Not sure if this original Dhaba in an outside Bangalore proper location decided to tap into the tech crowds as the city started to spread, all seems like a mystery.

Rooms are big but shower in our room had no partition so the whole bathroom was flooded. There is a charge for ice cubes, and no paper napkins in the room. Did notice drinking water containers in the corridor.

The whole location is outdated, there is no even footing, suddenly the level changes under your feet, and the warning sign are not placed with proper visual alert. There is cement/concrete work to slope the level everywhere.

The gym is in bad shape, machines are not working, and the uneven cement tennis court has a run-down net, basketball net is also in bad shape but the ring is intact. They have squash courts, and a trampoline. The pool is no diving and looked inviting and clean.

There is a garden area for outdoor events by the pool.

Wifi is via OTP and sometimes server is down, after getting the OTP also the net fails after a short while.

They have a bus to bring in day visitor groups who will take over the place and the regular stay guests are forced to retreat.

The food is buffet style and the employees are mixed, some are experienced, some have no clue and will mess up your order. The food was not always the best experience for the stomach and I had to eat an overdose of sprouts and fruits to keep my system intact.

Front desk staff are good, they checked us in and even took our luggage up to our rooms. They also have a ramp for wheelchair access. We had questions about the room service bill and they politely gave us all receipts to double check.

Housekeeping staff helped us whenever needed and did a good job.

There is no late night room service, and the place becomes quiet by 10:30-11PM. One can walk in the long entering roadway from the gate to the lobby and is safe. In the day time one can visit the many shops around and buy needed stuff.

If this was a proper Bangalore city property it would be a 1 star, as a lot of comparable properties have overtaken...

One of the worst experiences I have ever had. We stayed here for two days during a friend’s wedding. They almost ruined the experience for everyone.

  1. Housekeeping didn’t pick up the phone all through our stay, and I found out later that they apparently don’t do housekeeping in rooms at a wedding party unless called. I did call them and ask the reception though, and no one came till my checkout time (which was a full 24 hours later).

  2. Further, multiple rooms had ACs that stopped working in the middle of the night because they hadn’t been serviced. My own room had no hot water for the last leg of my stay, and the shower was so old that it sprayed water everywhere, soaking the entire bathroom when you took a bath. Plus, the loos are old and stained, and in urgent need of renovation, which also applies to cupboards and furniture.

  3. My ‘fresh’ room had cups that literally had fungus growing inside them. The hotel wasn’t even apologetic when I complained, and took nearly an hour to send up one fresh cup.

  4. Multiple guests had to scream and complain multiple times (on myriad subjects, ranging from construction noise to food quality) before any work was done. And for the most part, the staff was reluctant to help or solve any issues.

  5. While some of the north Indian food at the wedding was decent, the Dhaba restaurant served uncooked potatoes and stale pakodas at breakfast on our last day. It’s also near impossible to find staff there when you need them.

I think the only good thing was that they make a decent cold coffee and chicken sandwich, and room service food comes quite quickly (and is surprisingly cheap). Also, at least one wing at the hotel seems to have...
