Disappointing Experience – Not Worth the Price Anymore
I have stayed at Nilaya Resort and Spa a couple of times in the past and always had a pleasant experience. However, after a long time, I decided to visit again, expecting the same standards of service and hospitality. Unfortunately, my experience this time was far below expectations, and I feel compelled to share my feedback to help others make an informed decision.
Spa – The Only Saving Grace
The only positive aspect of my stay was the spa. The professionals there provided excellent service, and my overall experience with the spa treatment was truly relaxing. This was the only aspect that lived up to my previous experiences.
Pool Area – Poor Maintenance
I had opted for a poolside room, expecting a well-maintained pool area. However, the pool was not clean at all. The water was murky, filled with dried leaves, and lacked proper upkeep. It was evident that maintenance was not being done regularly, which completely ruined the experience of having a poolside room.
Food – Highly Disappointing
One of the most crucial aspects of any stay is the quality of food, and sadly, this was the biggest letdown. Despite selecting meal plans in advance through their website, the food served was extremely subpar. It tasted well but lacked freshness, and unfortunately, it even upset my digestive system. For a resort of this caliber and the prices they charge, such poor food quality is simply unacceptable.
Rigid Timings & Lack of Flexibility
There are strict time constraints for various facilities, including food service, spa appointments, and pool usage. Instead of offering a relaxed and flexible experience, guests have to adhere to inconveniently rigid schedules, which takes away from the overall experience.
Final Verdict – Not Worth the Price
Despite all these issues, the pricing remains unchanged, which is what makes this experience even more frustrating. If the resort is charging premium rates, it must ensure that the quality of service, maintenance, and overall experience match the price. Unfortunately, that is not the...
Read moreA Regal Escape with Urban Overtones
This resort impresses at first glance with its fortress-like architecture and regal design. The rooms are spacious, the bathrooms elegant, and our 2-day, 2-night stay was made comfortable by a range of thoughtful amenities. We particularly enjoyed the well-maintained swimming pool, snooker table, and table tennis setup—with decent beginner bats and a quality ball provided.
The spa, while not staffed with the most skilled professionals, still served its purpose adequately. Hospitality was another highlight—staff were polite, professional, and attentive. The food was generally good, matching the quality of service. However, vegetarian options felt a bit repetitive, with paneer dominating most dishes. A broader selection of green vegetables would have been appreciated. Breakfast, on the other hand, offered a pleasing variety.
That said, if you’re looking for a nature retreat or a peaceful escape from urban life, this may not be the ideal choice. The resort is located right on the busy Bhopal-Indore highway, and the constant sound of traffic and honking can intrude on the tranquility one might expect.
Moreover, the greenery within the resort leans heavily toward decorative and hybrid plants, giving more of a manicured terrace garden feel rather than an immersive natural experience. One hopes they’ve planned to grow native trees that, in time, might offer a forest-like atmosphere and a genuine break from city life.
Another downside is the absence of basic in-room amenities like proper water jugs. Guests who opt out of packaged water are given RO water in reused disposable plastic bottles—an unhealthy and environmentally unfriendly practice, especially for a place that markets itself as a retreat.
In summary: A great spot for a short, comfortable getaway with a touch of luxury—just don’t expect a deep dive into...
