Hotel Shyama Regency — Hotel in Bihar

Although this is one of the most famous hotels of Darbhanga, I would suggest against using it. There are numerous problems with the service standards of this hotel. Probably they don't understand what service means. They have contracts with airlines and with recent opening up of Darbhanga airport for public transport they get enough business and they care the least for any other guests that they have. Somehow it's located on a main road and the location is very prominently visible, it gets enough customers.

The first problem with the service is that they have 2 different numbers for room service. If you call at the reception desk for something to eat, you will be provided with a different cell phone number of the restaurant. Then you have to call on that other cell phone number to order food. In case you are in the hotel the reception number is 09 and the restaurant number is 04. Hope that helps.

The building has few or no windows, so a peculiar pungent smell is always there. The rooms mostly have no window for fresh air. Two types of rooms are on offer, one is the general accommodation which costs around 1600 INR and the second one is executive suit 2000 INR. In case you are in Darbhanga, it would be better if you choose some other place, maybe lesser known hotels...

This place is definitely not recommended for anyone going to Darbhanga.||The ground floor has a strange reception which has a board that tells you that this is Shyama Regency.||The carpet in the one and only lift is torn and dirty and the management has not done anything about it.||Dont make the mistake of getting off at the first floor. It is not fitted out and is used by the hotel to dry clothes and dump stuff.||The rooms are terrible. The lighting makes it look dingy. There is a musty smell. The paint is peeling off the walls. The bathroom fittings are dirty. The room I stayed in had a hole in the ceiling.||Towels and linen were old and repelling. ||At night there is disturbance due to a railway station close to the hotel.||Staff is extremely unprofessional and need training.||The hotel should be paying people...

It is only good for seating in ac hall just that and nothing else. The menu card was so long and it has various dishes but when u try to order something they don't have anything in restaurant except main courses u will not get puzza,burger, sandwich, coffee no sweet dish no south Indian food nothing except paneer curries, chicken mutton Curry's and rice items and the service was pathetic we have booked a cabin for two it charges 150 for 1 hr we have ordered a paneer tikka and cold coffee they have taken approx 1:25 min to serve paneer tikka this was the trick they used for customers to stay 2nd hour to so they can and they have taken charges of 2 hours and they where not ready to admit that they have taken so much time to serve our dish.
