Dining Experience Review – Needs Improvement Despite a Good Property
I’m writing this review while still at the hotel, hoping the management takes this feedback seriously to enhance the guest experience.
Parking Hassles: The first challenge begins right at the entrance. The parking area is extremely limited, accommodating only 5-6 cars. What makes it more frustrating is the attitude of the security staff at the gate—they show very little interest in guiding or helping guests with parking. If the parking is full, you’re completely on your own to figure things out.
Dining Service – A Disappointing Experience: Once seated at the restaurant, the service continues to underwhelm. The waitstaff appear undertrained and lack basic knowledge about the menu. They’re unable to make recommendations or explain dishes, which makes ordering difficult for first-time guests.
There’s also no guidance about wait times or how the ordering process works. For example, we placed an order for starters and had to wait around 15–20 minutes. After that, when we ordered the main course, we faced another wait of 20+ minutes. It would’ve been helpful if the staff had informed us that placing both orders together might save time.
What’s even more concerning is the lack of attentiveness. After delivering the food, no one checks back to see if we need anything. We had to call the waiter every time for basic requirements like water, cutlery, or additional condiments.
Suggestions to Management: Improve Staff Training: Waiters should be trained to understand the menu, make recommendations, and proactively check on guests during meals. Inform Guests About Wait Times: If dishes take longer to prepare, let guests know in advance so they can order accordingly. Enhance Hospitality: Basic gestures like serving complimentary papad or snacks during long wait times can make a big difference in the guest experience. Better Parking Management: Consider expanding the parking facility or train security staff to be more helpful and welcoming.
On a positive note, the property itself is beautiful, and the ambiance is pleasant. Thank you for bringing a place like this to Datia, but it definitely needs attention in terms of service quality to match the...
Read moreI’m from Datia and visited Hotel Ratan Mahal recently for lunch. The place has a royal and well-maintained ambience, probably one of the most premium dining spots in the city.
The restaurant was clean, spacious, and had a peaceful vibe. Staff were polite and service was fairly quick. The food was fresh and nicely presented—flavourful and well-cooked. Prices are a bit higher than usual Datia restaurants, but the overall experience and setting make it worth it.
A great option if you’re looking for a more upscale lunch spot or hosting guests from outside. Would recommend trying it...

A special mention to Mr. Apurva, the restaurant staff member who served us — he was polite, attentive, and made sure everything was perfect throughout our meal. His service truly enhanced the overall dining experience.
Highly recommended for anyone looking for tasty food and great...
