We embarked on a unique journey to Panihar, starting with a train ride from NDLS to CDG on Janashadabthi Train No. 12057, a budget-friendly option at 150 rupees per person. The train departed at 2:30 PM and arrived at CDG by 6:30 PM. From there, we boarded a Flix bus to AUT at 12:30 midnight, costing 350 rupees per person. We reached AUT at 5 AM, greeted by a dark landscape and a few waiting cab drivers. After negotiation, we hired a cab for 1700 rupees to take us to Panihar village, a 33-kilometer uphill journey. The winding mountain roads, dense forests, and darkness added to the thrill and a bit of fear. The skilled driver navigated the narrow roads, though the bumpy ride caused motion sickness. We finally reached Panihar at 7:30 AM, after a one-and-a-half to two-hour drive. Gopalji, our host, was waiting for us at the trolley station. This unique system, where luggage is transported via a ropeway, was a fascinating sight. It's a necessity in this remote location, as the road doesn't reach all the way to the homestay. The village itself is quite steep, requiring constant climbing. We were unprepared for the cold, as we weren’t wearing the right clothes. The homestay, nestled in a mountain valley, is a peaceful retreat. A short 5-10 minute hike from the main road leads to the homestay. The neighborhood is a close-knit community, with everyone knowing each other. There's a small shop owned by Gopalji's brother, where you can buy basic necessities. They are even willing to deliver groceries to your doorstep. Gopalji is a wonderful host who provided delicious home-cooked meals, including mutton soup and a traditional Himachali dish called Sidhu. He's also a dedicated teacher, spending his afternoons at the local school. He even took us on a hike to a nearby tower with breathtaking views. While this place may not be suitable for everyone, it's a paradise for nature lovers and those who enjoy hiking and peaceful surroundings. Don't expect modern amenities or a bustling town. The charm lies in its simplicity and tranquillity. If you're looking for a longer stay in a serene Himalayan setting, this is the perfect place. Just remember to pack warm clothes, right shoes and be prepared for a bit of adventure.

The homestay is a beautiful . It’s a great place to stay.It was the best experience staying there.Location is very beautiful and close to nature. This place is very well maintained...Upon arrival we were warmly welcomed by the Owner (Gopal ji and family) . Organic and Home cooked food was yummy. Rooms were spacious and comfortable, with fully equipped kitchen and bathroom. I would highly recommend this place and I would definitely want to come back to this place again.

The host Gopal ji and family are very hospital-able and amiable. Set in pristine village panihar of paldi region, near banjar the homestay is located amid-st apple orchards with beautiful views. The food is simple, quite tasty and homecooked. Upon request you can also try the traditional delicacies like siddu. Plenty of pristine trails as well to embark on. All in all a perfect place to get an authentic rustic experience in banjar region.

The owner here is a real God and I am serious about it when my property owner stopped picking up my phone and kind of refused to provide the internet services he promised to, Gopal ji came as a saviour he provided me food lodging as well as internet for me on a very short notice and when I asked him about the bill he refused to take any money despite of me asking him multiple times as he said that as it is a big milestone for me charging money for a help would be wrong. If you're someone who wants a place for workation or a long stay at a reasonable price with healthy food made of pure ghee this is the place to stay. As this place is at one of the unexplored regions it's not crowded which makes it perfect if you're looking for a...
