BRG hotel is a very good stay option in kevadia. A few scenic points are located not too far from this hotel thanks to the e-auto that are readily available. Also no need to bargain on the price of commute as these autos are fitted with rate cards.
Kevadia Station: very good and clean. Ac waiting Room for tourist that bought an Ac ticket is available at 20₹ for 2 hrs.My train reached around 7:30Am at kevadia station. From Station take an e-auto(50₹) to BRG. Now you can land on this Station at a time where in no autos are available so ask any cng🛺 auto or eeco (60₹-70₹, we got an eeco for 60₹) Check in : we reached a bit early say 11:35 am and the reception gave us our keys right away. ROOM: We made a last minute plan for kevadia so Ac room were out of our reach by that time. These get occupied so fast . So we booked a deluxe non AC room. The Building has a lift so old and divyangs can have worry free vacation. I also saw a divyang labelled Room at ground floor so if any Divyang/ Differentlyabled mate wanting to visit SOU go book brg.Room was spacious. It was equipped with a full size bed( mother +2 kids) and a single bed( for snoring father). A decent size wardrobe was also available and not to forget a dressing table was also present. It also had a balcony overlooking the garden. Yes you can hang your clothes as I had witnessed some balconies doing so. Bathroom had an attached bombing🚽 area.
SERVICE: Remember house keeping and Hotel are separate entities here. You need RO water house keeping staff will refill it for you at no extra cost as mentioned in their Booklet. Any other service like cleaning your room will call for an additional fee. I found the room a bit shabby. Floors were not squeaky clean. No complaints as we had to stay out most of the time .I don't know whether cleaning was not done on purpose or there was a certain mismanagement. During night I called in the housekeeping staff below to get my water refilled but guess what no one lifted the call. So I called the hotel and placed an order for two packaged drinking water bottles (40₹ each). Again no one arrived. Later I called again for a Veg biryani (245₹ with gst) and to my surprise it was delivered quickly. It came along with the bill so you will have to pay at the time of delivery. Quantity was good enough for two people. It was also accompanied by a papad, onion& lemon slices . THE RESTAURANT : We had Fulka and veg korma. Veg korma was tasty, no extra oil floating on top, freshly prepared...yumm!! Fulka was " halka fulka" I had never seen such a flimsy fulka in my life. I wished It were a bit thicker, I mean I love thin chapatis&fulkas but this was way too thin. But taste of entire meal was spot on.Dining area is beautiful their staff is calm and always polite. Finger bowl is made available once you end your meal so bring your oldies with you to this hotel.Total bill was 480 something we ate less as our driver was waiting outside and we had to travel to Neelkanthdham. Checkout: hassle free.
SUGGESTIONS: Ac rooms have an additional benefit of early check-in (9:30am). An aeroplane carries both business and economy classes together and makes them land at same time. Early check-in being given to a certain customer betrays the idea of equality in service to customer. Will Ac customers pay extra for lunch / dinner than a non ac customer in the restaurant? Answer is a big no. Had we got an early check-in we could have covered a few more places. Management can make the early checkin time for non-ac accommodation as 10:30am. Sitting on Station with no motive whatsoever totally kills the fun of outing. I wonder what old and differently able might have to go through while waiting after journeying to kevadia. Although Station is good but you can't sleep there to straighten your back for that you will have to book a retiring room. If you book a retiring room then why go to the hotel??
OVERALL EXPERIENCE: very good(considering price to...
Read moreOk so first things first, i have stayed for 4 days here. Will mention some Pros and cons based on my own experience.
Pros Location and transportation are good. Autowala's are readily available. Decent food and service in the cafeteria. Quick cleaning service, after call they come and clean the room along with changing the covers. 4.Get basic amenities like Ac, cupboard, cute balcony, extra bed (i opted for basic ac room), chairs, kettle, soap and shampoo. Nice lawn and play areas for kids. you can spend some time with your family. Cost: this is the most affordable accommodation you can get near SOU - true to its name.
Now coming to cons
The hotel will not be flexible to give you early check-in (even with additional charges and rooms are available) Pungent chemical smell from pest control they did in the room. ( On the flip side we didn't find any insects atleast 😆) Expensive food (cannot blame just this hotel, almost all restaurants in the vicinity have above average rates) , they also keep expensive food baskets in rooms which are above MRP Poor maintenance: and i mean over all. This hotel has been there for about 5 years , i can see some patches are coming off walls, there are cracks everywhere, lights not functioning, decor coming off etc. Notice the reviews from 2-3 years back to now - you will see a pattern. If you are reading this review a year or so later then i guess things would be even worse (unless they actually do some maintenance work- pity its such a nice place) Hot water is like normal water - don't expect anything above that. No wifi ( really wired) 😕 - not even for additional charges. Useless to take meal packages as the added cost is pretty much the same. ( Take the vanilla one and eat in the cafeteria whenever you want). Thin walls - shouldn't be a deal breaker though. Worn out mattress springs: be ready for some back pain' ( again they need...
Read moreI had done an online booking of my stay at BRG Budget Stay for the weekend of 09/09/22 h for my family of three adults; for an AC room which was not available at the time of booking and adjusted with the non-ac room available at the said time. On reaching BRG Budget Stay from Nashik Maharashtra, after a 9-hour drive and battling through pitiable NH 48 roads, I arrived at around 4 pm at the hotel. I requested an upgrade to an AC room if there really was one available. The young team at the reception were cordial, polite & professional & took cognizance of my request & allotted me an AC room.
The rooms were excellent, the bed, toiletries, washroom, room service, and housekeeping were very good. There is hot water available round the clock in the washrooms.RO water is available as drinking water whilst bottled water is available for a price. The breakfast served in the package, had a variety of food items ranging from cheese sandwiches, idli sambar, chutney, pohe, upma, batata -vada, corn flakes, watermelon juice, pineapple juice, hot milk, tea and coffee. The dining area is managed well with prompt service, efficient stewards & support staff. The food is reasonably priced. I would however recommend getting a package with breakfast and lunch/dinner. that way things work well with the good spread of the menu.
Parking is spacious. The whole place is well maintained with well-manicured lawns and a play area for kids is well sorted out. Bikes and bicycles are available for rent too. The place is a close drive to the designated parking space for the SOU.
Remarks: Best place to stay near the SOU with reasonable prices and good hospitality. I suggest readers first ensure your booking for stay here & then accordingly plan for the SOU viewing tickets for a better & memorable trip to the 'Statue Of Unity' at Kawadiya.
Many thanks, team BRG Budget Stay for making my stay as well as...
