Lalji's Hotel And Restaurant — Hotel in Gujarat

I stayed at Lalji's for 6 days between 12th and 18th January 2015. Run by a father-son duo Mr. Bharat and Mr. Jignesh Sharma, with inputs from the rest of their nuclear family (wife and daughter as well), this is a newly-established hotel that someone pointed me to as I needed to stay close to the GCS Hospital and Research Center located on Naroda Road near Chamunda in Ahmedabad. The hotel, built on a 200 sq. yds. area, has only 12 rooms, which includes studio rooms, two-bedded rooms and a family suite on both of its two stories, has a really nice reception and a very friendly staff that went out of their way to make my stay pleasant. They also run a Punjabi-style food restaurant on their ground floor, with about 45-50 covers. Their basic thali, which I ate many times, was just Rs. 89, and had three butter-rotis, 2 vegetables, jeera rice, dal fry, one papad, salad and pickle. Great VFM! They also have a deluxe thali and an unlimited thali, plus an extensive a la carte menu. The sweets served with the higher version of the thali are, unfortunately, very small portions. ||||During my stay in one of the double-bedded rooms on the first floor, I needed a strong Wi Fi as I was using the net to study for the upcoming exam that I was to give at the GCS Hospital on the last day of my stay. They did not have a strong Wi Fi connectivity when I registered, but by the same day evening, they had arranged for a Wi Fi extension from the reception to just outside my room. In the same way, the entire staff coordinated with me and cooperated with me when I asked for a table and a chair to study, extra bed-sheets, toiletries and towels, and what not. Every time, they obliged. ||||The manager, a young boy who is also a family friend of the Sharmas, even went out of the way to get medicines from a pharmacy, to find out bus and taxi timings for my next stop on the evening of the 18th, and so on. The restaurant boys made non-menu items for me whenever I requested for them, such as sandwiches etc.||||I recommend this hotel to anyone who is visiting Ahmedabad and wishes to have good food, reasonably priced rooms and...

I have stayed in this hotel several times before with my family, this time I found lot of differences like the room was not cleaned, floor was dirty, there was dust on bed headboard, the shower head need to be replaced or cleaned as the water flows everywhere, the extractor fan in the bath ceiling when on throws in dirt which accumulates on the sink, Restaurant staff when ordering tea/coffee needs bit of training as when bringing the brewerage in the room in the tray it spills the bewerages and while drinking can spoil the clothing with drips from the cups. Summarising this hotel needs little bit attention to detail on the few things and areas mentioned, otherwise it is not...
