Hanuwantiya Tent City Jal Mahotsav — Hotel in Hanwantiya

I am limiting this review only to the tent colony and not the Hanuwantia as a destination. For all those who have been to Kutch, they will find quite a similarity between the tent colony at Hanuwantia and the tent colony at Rann Utsav of Kutch in Gujarat. Few clusters of tents and every cluster having a tents surrounding an artificially levelled ground. All tents are Swiss tents, with minor difference in facilities as per the package one opts for. Tents are undoubtedly good, with attached toilet and shower. Beds are comfortable. Tents are spacious, there is a sitting area inside the tent and a covered sitting area, outside the tent giving you the full view of the cluster. Tents also have air conditioners. The ground outside the tents work as a activity ground or playground where you can enjoy cycling. Teas can be served at the tents but dining area is separate, where all guests have to go for breakfast and meals. Be watchful to keep you tent door nets zipped, specially in evenings as there can be mosquitos around as there is ample water everywhere. Food is good if not exceptional. Try to taste some local delicacies of the Malwa region. Away from concrete cities, this is welcome change to be besides an artificial sea of water. Hanuwantia is besides the Indira Sagar Reservoir which is said to be the biggest such inland water body in Asia. But being here is fun, only if you are planning to indulge in some air or water activities. Otherwise it could be boring after some time. There is also a club house in the tent colony for some indoor activities. Final word, the existence of this tent city comes only during the duration of Jal Mahotsav, organised every year in months of November, December and January (check exact dates for the year). SO if you plan to be at the Jal Mahotsav, than this tent city is perhaps only mainly available accommodation...

My recent visit to the Main Jal Mahotsav 2023-2024 in December 2023 left me utterly disappointed, and I feel compelled to express my dissatisfaction. The Tent City accommodations were shockingly overpriced, offering little value for money. The rates seemed exorbitant compared to the subpar facilities provided.||Adding to the dismay was the appalling quality of the food. It was nothing short of a culinary disaster, making me question the sanity behind the pricing. The promise of thrilling water sports turned out to be a blatant misrepresentation; the reality fell far short of the enticing descriptions.||The most egregious offense, however, was the glaring disparity between the website's glossy images and the grim reality on-site. The pictures painted a rosy picture, but the experience was a stark contrast. It reeked of false advertising and left me feeling deceived and thoroughly dissatisfied.||In light of my experience, I strongly advise against considering Main Jal Mahotsav 2023 as a viable option for any traveler. The stark discrepancy between expectations and reality, coupled with exorbitant prices and substandard services, make it a regrettable choice. Detailed review: We visited on 30th Dec 2023. It was a great experience. We stayed at the Royal tent 🎪 so services was very good. There was a person at the gate 1 to greet us and to unload luggage from the car. Then they explained everything at the reception and provided us a dedicated contact number in case of any services needed. They have EV in the campus for travel so 2 EVs were arranged for us which took us to our royal tent. The tent was amazing. It was very big (since it was their highest quality tent) many amenities were inside the room. (They had to close some activities in the evening of the 30th because of the sudden CM visit). But later the next day 31st dec we enjoyed a lot in speed boat ⛵ (2 times we did) , jetski, zipline, swing, motor sport (i have provided pics) and many more. Overall it was a very good experience and I must say the staff was very good. One example: I asked if they have cards or Uno , and I was very happy that they arrange it then and their by sending one person to market (9 km away from location) and provided me cards ♠️♦️ that's a kind of hospitality you expect.
