When we planned for our trip to Kinnaur (Kalpa- Sangla-Chitkul) I really did not know what to expect. heard a lot about this place and so it was in my bucket list. but I was not prepared for the landscape and view that unfolded in front of us as we crossed the gate to Kinnaur- that is sarahan to be precise.||This kind of landscape with rugged yet grass green mountain, "sky blue" skies with generous offering of white clouds, deep dark canyons with mountain rivers running through it like a child happily going home after school made us speechless and we tried to devour this health diet to cleanse our toxic city minds as much as we could.||I planned the trip myself and during the last phase of the journey was our 2 nights stay at Sangla, the most remote part of the journey.we planned to have a day trip to Chitkul as well as a sight seeing of Sangla itself.||As my vodafone connection stopped working after Kalpa, so I was not able to locate the location and as we entered the town of Kalpa i was getting ready to stay for two days in a small congested hill town like any other in India.but to my pleasant surprise we drove past the city and after 5-10 minutes of driving through the road of Chitkul, we started descending via side road towards the Baspa river towards the village of Basteri.||we were getting very excited about this surprisingly different location of stay. honestly i did not have much idea about interior geography of sangla and did not plan for it.||There was a little doubt of what to expect as we are now moving from small town to even smaller villege.||but when we saw the smiling face of Mr. Negi, the owner of our hotel patiently waiting for us for close to two hours (delayed due to road clearance work after landslide-pretty common) we were assured that we have come to the right place.||all the rooms are in the first floor with common balcony with ours a bit secluded from the rest with our own balcony. We liked that arrangement.||Rooms are well equipped with what to expect in a mid budget hill town hotel and that was really commendable as it was not even a popular hill town.||I was really not there for the food and was completely satisfied with the simple yet satisfying dishes prepared by the staffs of the hotel. one should have the good sense not to expect five star equivalent menu there but what amazed me is that still they went out of their ways to support some of our demands (not currently in menu kind of stuff) as my daughter had a small stint of fever.||elaborating more on the staffs, these are honest, hard working and very simple village folks interacting with whom will always be a pleasure for us who scarcely get that kind of company in our cities. talking with them (the staffs or other folks from the village of Basteri) will be a pleasant and rewarding activity.||Mr. Negi being one with the same roots, was equally up to the task by giving our ignorant selves a lot information about the surroundings, best routes, to Dos and what to avoid- which other businessman will refuse to part with. We convey our heartfelt thanks for all the support.||Now I am in a position to say that if you plan to stay in this hotel, you could expect mostly good things and if something goes wrong then be assured there are real honest people trying to help you by not treating you like a customer only. ||my request: treat them like your friend too.||and lastly yes, it is a Paid review...paid by the honesty, simplicity of these...
Read moreI read good reviews about this property in the internet while planning our Himachal Trip. After reading the reviews, I didn't look for any other property in the Sangla Valley. Wanted to book this property, booked immediately through Agoda. But the owner said that they don't take bookings through Agoda, they do take through MMT and Booking.com. As I was talking to him over phone, I wanted to book through him, but he kept me confused about some or other thing. Next day morning when I called him he said all super Deluxe rooms are gone. I was little disappointed as I was in constant touch with him about the booking. Anyways, he showed be the normal room that doesn't have any good view. I agreed for that, but then he was charging 4.5k for a night which is not at all worth once you see the room. In our HP trip nowhere they charged for our six year old, but this one was charging. After some conversation he agreed for 4k. But I'm telling it's not worth 4K a night. The bathroom was not cleaned, there were yellow stains on the seat of the commode, the water hole was full of dirt. And there was no power backup. The temperature was in minus, when we asked for a heater they said it would charge extra. But the owner said that they would give heater in every room. We wanted to have some mutton curry as we heard mutton curry in that region is very good. So we bought some mutton and wanted their chef to cook it, initially the owner said NO, and he was telling it won't be possible. Then on reaching the property his brother agreed for it. But they charged 300 bucks for the preparation. There is no welcoming gesture there. ||The only good thing is food. My wife says the mutton curry was awesome. And I also found that other food items were very good. For food we can give them good rating. ||But the room is not worth 4k a night, I felt like cheated by the owner. No professionalism at all. So my recommendation is to avoid...
