Mid Way Tourist Resort — Hotel in Himachal Pradesh

Booked as a discounted night halt (Yatra, no thanks to you), on-route to Manali, we had hoped for at least the basics to be right in this mediocre Inn pretending to be a resort. |A yellow, stagnant pool of water under a pedestal greets you at the reception, leading to a dark restaurant cum reception, where you wait for someone to show up. The hotel appears as if it was closed after a busy night months ago. Grimy windows and shelves, barely hanging curtains, mosquitoes behind them and termites wandering through the holed beds and floors is the sight to see in the better, ac deluxe rooms. Muddy balconies and doors, wires festooned over the toilet is a scene from the washroom. And there is actual garbage in the corridors. |Stuck because of a lack of options, we went through our stay, deciding to stay in then count the lizards dotting the walls outside. |Food is standard fare though not something you would really remember. |As far as the amenities listed on the TripAdvisor and yatra listing, we weren't expecting them at all, though did see a cemented slide leading to a sewage dump (literally) pretending to have once been a pool. Traveled through Sai Tours & Travels, Phase 11, Sector 65, Mohali. Travel agent Mr. Harvinder Gujjran booked a hotel for us and that was hotel "Midway Tourist Resort" at Mandi which is about 25 km distance from Mandi. The hotel is not maintained at all. Room was not cleaned, washroom was dirty, poor room service and hospitality, no inter-cum service in our allotted room, didn't get any bathing soap. We stayed at 2nd floor. No elevator was available in the hotel. Food quality was not good. Is it called *star hotel? as travel agent told us when he made the package. Even when I asked him which kind of food will you provide us then he told us in each hotel we will get buffet system at breakfast and dinner but we didn't get in anyone. Very nice property, nice views, nice location but highly mismanaged and staffs in general and front desk in particular must learn as to how to behave and welcome guests. Rooms are in terrible conditions, requires proper repair, painting walls and repair of room and toilet electrical systems. Dirty linen requires proper washing and changes periodically.
