While booking this homestay, I had no doubts in my mind. Based on the reviews, I thought it would be a very good place. But after arriving, I realized that was not the case. It does look nice, and the location is good. The food was average, manageable.
The main problem was that the rooms were extremely dirty and not properly cleaned. There were spider webs in the corners, and neither the bed nor the pillows were clean. We had booked 4 rooms, and all of them were in the same condition.
Besides that, one of our rooms had a geyser problem. They made a very unsafe temporary electric connection to provide hot water. Since we had kids with us, we were quite scared to use it. When we complained, they argued quite rudely. The owner was not available nearby, and even after calling him to complain, nothing was done. During booking, he seemed like a very nice person, but later we realized we were wrong. His brother, however, behaved better with us.
At night, they left the dinner open and went away without informing us. We, four families, got scared and locked all the doors. Later, in the middle of the night, they came and asked me why we had locked the doors!
There was nothing hospitable about this homestay. We couldn’t even get a simple bottle of water at night and had to buy it from the market in the morning.
We really didn’t like the place at all. Among the 13 hotels of our Spiti tour, this was the worst one. I would never come back to this hotel again.
Don’t rely only on the reviews — maybe it used to be...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of staying at Rakchham a charming homestay in Sangla, and I must say it was an unforgettable experience. From the moment I arrived, I was welcomed with warmth and genuine hospitality. The hosts went above and beyond to make sure my stay was comfortable and memorable.
The homestay itself was cozy and beautifully maintained, offering a perfect blend of traditional Kinnauri architecture and modern amenities. The rooms were spacious, clean, and had breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains and valleys. It truly felt like a home away from home.
What stood out the most, however, was the food. Every meal was a delight — freshly prepared, full of local flavors, and made with love. I had the chance to try several regional delicacies, and each dish was better than the last. The hosts were always eager to share stories behind the food, which added a personal touch to the dining experience.
Overall, the hospitality, food, and serene environment made this homestay an exceptional place to stay. If you're ever in Sangla, I highly recommend this homestay for an authentic, heartwarming experience. I will definitely...
Read moreRakchham Homes what to say about this homestay it just made me feel like home. Their rooms, environment and food facilities are like worthy one. This hostel is quite new and according to me it is best hotel in Rakchham. My preference is that a person who is there to visit Chitkul then they should take a homestay in Rakchham as it is less crowded thus has a peaceful environment and is much better then taking a homestay in Chitkul. This homestay is not far away from Chitkul it's just 11 km away from Chitkul. Me and my family stayed for 2 days and felt that they had best rooms from where the views were amazing. They had best service and their staff's behaviour were very friendly. I would recommend you to visit here once and I am sure you are...
