My family stayed at this charming boutique hotel from December 31st to January 2nd. The property is beautifully designed, with modern, tastefully decorated rooms that feel fresh and new. The view from our rooms was lovely with fresh snow and icicles hanging from the windows. Beautiful morning sunrise. We were told the view below was of apple orchards, and since we visited in winter, unfortunately they were bare. We would love to see the place blossom in summer and spring.
The open common area for meals had a good spread, and the food was brought in from an adjoining building that is under construction, set to include more rooms and a larger dining area in the near future.
Service was excellent—the staff were polite, attentive, and quick to resolve any issues. We requested a bonfire since we missed the New Year’s Eve celebration, and the team kindly arranged it, even playing music for us. It was a thoughtful gesture that made our stay memorable.
The only downside was the location, as the hotel is in a slightly in the narrower, inner bylanes. During peak winter, the road iced up, making it difficult for our van to safely access the main road. My suggestion would be for the hotel to provide a smaller vehicle with chained tires for pick-up and drop-off during such conditions.
Overall, it was a lovely experience, and I’d recommend this hotel, especially for a summer stay when accessibility...
Read moreOur stay at Faiz Hotel near the Lidder River, situated between Anantnag and Pahalgam, was a mixed experience. While the location has potential, several aspects left us disappointed.
Firstly, the property is quite secluded, which could be a plus for some. However, the approach road is in terrible condition, making access difficult and unpleasant.
We stayed in a room on the top floor, which turned out to be the worst choice. The dining area is right outside, causing food smells to waft into the room and leading to significant disturbances at night. Additionally, the WiFi and TV were non-functional throughout our stay.
We opted for a package that included dinner, which we regretted. The food was below average, and it was a self-service setup despite advertising a traditional dining system. This was not the relaxing dining experience we had hoped for.
Another major issue was the tipping culture. Housekeeping staff frequently asked for tips, and even the gatekeeper stopped our car to request a tip. This was particularly surprising and off-putting given the region’s reputation for hospitality and politeness.
Overall, Faiz Hotel has a lot to improve on. The location and potential for tranquility are overshadowed by poor service, inadequate facilities, and an uncomfortable tipping culture. We would recommend considering other options...
