Hotel Chinar — Hotel in Jammu and Kashmir

Travelled in March, 2023 with my kid.

This hotel was closed for several years and is now under renovation. Still the work is not done. Rooms are unfinished. Some rooms have raw wood work done and pending laminate to be applied on. This was the worst hotel we stayed in our trip. If you looking for a 2star property and the service then definitely you can go ahead with this hotel booking.

All the window seals have leaks in them. So if you travelling in winter season..be prepared to feel the outside weather sitting inside the room only. We hope to be warm and cozy in the rooms in the hotel, but here in Chinar one can feel the cold chilly weather in the hotel rooms also. Icing on the cake will be when there will be no heater in the room. The staff says they will start the central heating immediately, but it never happens. The staff themselves had informed us that the cost of running central heating system is very high so we don't start the central heating system.

The bathrooms are crude. Still lot of incomplete work. None of the doors have handle locks. All had cylinder locks which were broken. We had to use the latch given on the top of the door to lock the bathroom doors. You pay for 4star hotel and use a chawl system facility.

One of the room alloted to us had open nail work. If my 5 year would have hurt herself can't imagine what damage it could have done. The wardrobe were still unfinished and just ply work was done. Imagine I paid this as 4star property.

We were finally shifted to suit room. For 1 hour I felt good and relaxed. My 3 hours in evening were wasted from changing 3 rooms. After an hour I realised the room is not getting heated only. It then occurred the room size is more than double the normal rooms but has 1 AC working as a heater. Full night had to put my sweaters to use to keep myself warm and had to make my 5 year old daughter wear thermals and sleep. The bathtub here..it was in wonderful shape. Jacuzzi tub installed but not working. Ply work in the sides to cover the gaps. Tub was almost 10 years old. What a night we had..!!

We tried to speak to the general manager several times..but he was too busy to find the time or have the courtesy to call us. We tried getting the number of the hotel owners. So got details of some Mr. Hussain (no idea if he is really the owner of the hotel). He said he is the person to speak to for any grievances. He himself agreed that the rooms alloted were not acceptable and also said the booking amount shall be refunded. But after waiting patiently for 2 weeks there is no action from his end to refund the amount.

The food and the spread, any 3 star hotel will have more options and welcoming staff.

I ruined my day by staying here.

This hotel was recommended by my travel agents - purplewindholidays from Mumbai. I held them responsible too for suggesting this hotel. They got a good deal from the management and I had to pay the cost. And the hotel is responsible for taking bookings when they are just not ready.

I recently had a stay in this property with my 9yrs old daughter . I had a terrible experience . Even if the availability was there but no one upgraded the room category as the views from our room were really pathetic although the rooms are v spacious . We were told that it was the highest category of room available with them . I did not like the hospitality as kept calling the room service but It was never addressed . One Light of the room was not functioning neither we got any assistance on operating the Tv as we called the room service depart. Thrice but no one came . Variety In food was avg. The only best thing abt the hotel was Mr Saba who was always smiling and was polite and helpful at the restaurant. My daughter called the restaurant to order noodles in the room for the dinner but we were told it was finished although it was available in the dinner buffet . Location of the hotel is not good as it’s on the Srinagar bypass . Would never stay here again better prefer staying at the Dal lake instead .No...

I had an absolutely horrible experience with this hotel. I booked two rooms on Agoda for my family on 6th Feb 2023 for a holiday from 10th to 16th April. A week before the stay, the hotel sent me an email stating that they will not be able to accomodate me as they have no rooms. This didn't make any sense since I booked the rooms months in advance. I called the hotel and they repeated what they said in their email. I called Agoda to report this. Agoda spoke to the hotel and then apologized for the "inconvenience caused to me" and offered to cancel my booking. I'm not sure what the problem really was here. Maybe the hotel got a large booking for the entire hotel (maybe a big group) and cancelled the bookings of customers who had booked months in advance. Either way, this hotel is highly untrustworthy, unprofessional and has no problem treating their customers like disposable items. I strongly do not recommend this hotel. Book at...
