The hotel is very fine in such a remote place. Sonmarg is such a big place, you will do good if you stay there for a night. It is possible to come back Srinagar on the same day but it would be a bit hectic. There is very limited hotels in Sonmarg. But sun rises behind the hill is absolutely outstanding! I was there in last week of August. We reached to Sonnarg with our own jeep from Srinagar. Due to their local rule, we had to hire another jeep to the reach zero point. To see ice, We had to burn huge calories. We had two options by jeep or by horse. We opted for jeep. They claimed around 8000 Rs and Rs 500 as tips. Finally, after a huge bargain we made the deal Rs 5300 including tips. About after 30 minutes, it seemed to me that the decision to go Zero Point was wrong!! The road was too risky. Though the driver was trained and jeep was specially customised, we were very much frightened. A second’s in-cautious driving can crush the jeep falling from 100 to 150 feet. The road was very much dangerous. We came to know that that was the only route to go Ladakh through Kargil. However, we found a ice melted water river in the zero point. Too cold!! Some plaques engraving names of Indian soldiers were found. Later we climbed around 150 feet to see ice. That was too labourious. We only 3 out of 7 reached the peak to see ice. My 7 years old daughter, my wife and I were the lucky persons!! We took juicy noodles in the foot of the hill with chilled breeze. You will find a water stream on the way and take a short break. I’ll suggest you not to touch the water more than 5 seconds. Dear, they journey would be adventurous, splendid,...

On the main road and in the main area where the cluster of hotels are in Sonmarg. A walk away from the Main Bazaar.||||F&B : IT is again a 100% Vegetarian Hotel. They have an Agarwal Bhojanalay which serves very homely cooked food. Good for the tummy !!||||Rooms : Fully Wooden Rooms with an Excellent View of the Jhelum River and the Valley of Sonmarg. Rooms are small, but yet cozy.||||Bathrooms : Small bathrooms with the basics in the right place. There is a control on Hot Water Timings. Kindly check with the hotel. Unfortunately the Western Commode in our room had a broken seat. However, it was manageable so we did not fuss much.||||Staff & Service : All service guys are mainly from Mumbai. The owner is also from Mumbai apparently. Fun loving staff and happy to help/ serve at all times. We asked for Bed Tea @ 5:30am in the morning and they were there sharp at the given time with our Glass of Kawa (Kashmiri Tea) waking us up to the beauty of Sonmarg.||||Overall a Value for Money...
Read moreSonmarg Palace is not just a hotel but a special memory in my heart. To begin with, Mr Ejaz was accommodating with our requests before the booking process that we ended up visiting Sonmarg as we got a very positive and welcoming vibe around him. We ended up extending our stay even due to his staff excellent hospitality. The location is perfect, just where Thajiwas glacier begins. If you have the room at the back, you’ll be treated to the view and sound of the Sindh river flowing. Will try to attach a video. In winters the front of the hotel will treat your eyes to the snow capped mountains I was told. Food was exceptional! We tried new dishes everyday with a wide spread and every dish was exceptional. Every dish. Ended up binging! What can I say about the staff. They are so polite, extremely service oriented and quick. I was stunned. All in all, Sonmarg Palace was cozy and comfy. Do not expect luxury but you will definitely get more than your moneys worth, especially the memories you leave with from here. Also special thanks to the lovely Maharashtrian gentleman who gave us lovely advice and good...
