Besides, Ather provided us with a total kitchen attached to our room. It contained ovens with LPG cylinder, rice, wheat, tea, coffee, Maggie, powdered species of all kinds, half-a-dozen eggs, sugar, salt, potatoes, onions, ginger, garlic cloves, cooking oil, and an assortment of utensils…. what not! And Ather bestowed on us full liberty to make good of his kitchen.|This homestay is not a hotel that’ll provide you with cooked food for lunch & dinner. Much work is to be done for infrastructural development, given the tourism industry begets 70% of income to the Kashmiris. The Govt. must not rely solely on hydel power coming from the national grid but should liberally invest in solar power to diffuse the benefits of electricity to the grassroots levels and in remote areas. Because of this frequent power cut, which is as unpredictable as Kashmir’s weather, most of the hotels in Kashmir have their own generator sets. Kashmir H’stay stands no exception and because of that, you’ll get hot water from the geyser twenty-four hours.|To prevent us from severe cold, Ather equipped our bedroom with a wood-fired fireplace. And just as we stepped into our room, Ather’s dad, retired police personnel with an equally amiable disposition, immediately swung into action: he brought in two sac-full of dry wood and ignited them in the fireplace. We felt cozy in the warmth to sleep comfortably at another home 3000 kilometers away from our home.|That’s not all. Ather greeted us with a pleasant surprise when we were dropped by our cab before Gift-tree—the other name of the Home Stay. He surprised us with a pair of tickets for a Gondola ride on the following day. Believe me, I honestly tried from Kolkata to book these tickets online but failed despite my 6 hours of continuous efforts for two successive days (15th April & 16th April 2024). And then I politely requested Ather to make his try from Gulmarg just in case he could access the J & K Cable Car Corporation’s server. When we boarded the flight on 18th April 2024 from Kolkata, we knew we didn’t have any fair chance of riding a Gondola.|Kashmir Homestay is neat and clean including the attached bath fitted with a geyser, commode & other itineraries. Just don’t call me biased if I give five out of five to Ather’s homestay!|—Prof P Chattopadhyay| [April 21—23, 2024]||Noteworthy details: The Kashmir Homestay [The Gifttree] overlooks the Tangmarg Highway which is the National Highway NH 701A connecting Baramulla (north end) & Gulmarg (west end). Read moreHi, My name is Harshit Saxena, I recently embarked on a family trip to Kashmir, opting for a road journey in a Mahindra Scorpio SUV. Unfortunately, our adventure took an unexpected turn when my mother experienced severe back pain due to the challenging off-road conditions. However, our stay at Kashmir Homestay and the remarkable hospitality we received from Uncle, Aunty, and their son Athur made all the difference.
From the moment we arrived, it was evident that we had stumbled upon a truly special place. Uncle and Athur welcomed us warmly, treating us like their own family. Their genuine concern for my mother's well-being was immediately evident, and they assured us that they would take care of her as if she were their own sister. Although I had my doubts, something about their sincerity put me at ease.
The following day, as we set out to complete our planned itinerary, we left my mother in the capable hands of Uncle and Aunty. Their words rang true, as they tended to her needs diligently. They arranged for a doctor's visit, ensuring she received proper medical attention. Athur, their son, proved to be a dedicated and caring individual.
Upon returning late in the evening, I was pleasantly surprised to find my mother in their home, engaged in lively conversation and laughter. It was clear that they had gone above and beyond in taking care of her. Uncle's efforts in ensuring my mother's comfort and well-being were truly commendable. Aunty's culinary skills delighted my mother's taste buds, her mutton lunch for my mother was truly exceptional.
Furthermore, I discovered that Uncle and Athur owned a small shop, where my mother found some beautiful kurtis at incredibly reasonable prices. It was a wonderful bonus to our stay, adding to the already exceptional experience.
Overall, our stay at Kashmir Homestay was nothing short of exceptional. It felt like we were staying with long-lost relatives, surrounded by love, care, and warmth. The kindness and dedication shown by Uncle, Aunty, and Aarth went far beyond what we expected, transforming our trip into an unforgettable experience.
If you're planning a visit to Kashmir and seeking a homely atmosphere with genuine hospitality, I wholeheartedly recommend Kashmir Homestay. Their commitment to guest satisfaction and their ability to turn strangers into family is truly praiseworthy. My family and I will forever cherish the memories we created during our stay, and we eagerly look forward to returning to Kashmir Homestay in...
Read moreI had this most memorable & amazing homestay in January in the most scenic beautiful Gulmarg at Kashmir Homestay with Ather and his parents and it was my best ever homestay. Comfort, warmth, ambience, location, cleanliness were 10/10 👌 and most importantly I've never received such a personalized service from any other hotel or homestay.
Ather was there to welcome me at the gate and entering into their home made me feel like my own home, as Ather and his parents welcome me and treated me like their own son. I've never experienced this warmth and kindness from any other homestay or hotel.
The property is really easily accessible as it's located on the Srinagar-Gulmarg highway very closer to both Gulmarg and Doodhpathri, so I could easily explore these 2 places with minimum cost. The view from the balcony was also mezmorizing. I must mention that, thanks to Ather's father I was suggeated to see Doodhpathri which became my most memorable experience ever.
Even before checkin to his homestay, Ather was already communicating and was kind enough to facilitate me with all my needs. He provided a ton of helpful tips, not only for Gulmarg, but also for my whole Kashmir tour, which I found out to be immensely helpful.
Parents of Ather were really kind and provided me with their delicious home cooked Kashmiri food and it was such an amazing unforgettable experience. I felt like I was really fortunate to find this homestay and I have no words to describe this wonderful experience.
I wish Ather and family Good luck and...
