Our two-day family stay at Mahalakshmi Antarvanam, including senior citizens and a 4-year-old child, was underwhelming and far from satisfactory. While the property is situated in a beautiful location surrounded by mountains and is conveniently close to the Mookambika temple, the overall experience was marred by significant shortcomings.
The rooms are spacious and clean, and the property has a swimming pool, which could have been a highlight if properly maintained. However, other facilities, like the indoor games area and gym, are in complete disrepair and unusable. Reaching the property was a challenge due to an incorrect Google Maps location, which adds unnecessary hassle to the journey. Additionally, the property is quite remote, leaving guests with little to do in the vicinity.
The service levels at the property were extremely poor and frustrating. Simple requests had to be repeated multiple times, as the staff seemed disorganized and unresponsive. Basic amenities like towels were not provided unless constantly reminded, and the TV in the room didn’t work despite repeated complaints. Communication with the staff was another major issue—there is no telephone network or intercom, and all requests had to be made via WhatsApp, which often went ignored. For tourists not familiar with the local language, interactions with the staff were particularly challenging, as they appeared untrained in hospitality and were occasionally rude.
The dining experience was another low point. There was no food menu, and the options available were extremely limited. The complementary breakfast came with a strict count of items—requests for additional servings, like an extra wada or dosa, were declined. Such rigidity in service is highly unwelcoming.
While the property’s location and cleanliness of the rooms are commendable, the lack of professionalism, poor service, limited amenities, and remote location make Mahalakshmi Antarvanam a difficult recommendation. It is not ideal for families, especially those with young children or senior citizens, as the stay requires constant follow-up for even the most...
Read moreWe stayed here for a day during our Mookambika temple visit end of May. Though little far from the temple unlike other hotels (~5 kms), this resort is located in a calm & peaceful area. Currently it’s a small resort with about 20 rooms or so but they are expanding bigger & better. Rooms are spacious, king bed is good for 2 adults & 1 kid (or 2 small kids), air conditioning performed well, large balcony with seating. But hot water availability in bathroom is tricky (common water heater located elsewhere and you have to waste lot of water plus you may not get enough hot water when all guests use simultaneously, hope they find a fix to this). Also the roof is laid with tin sheets and when it rains heavily, you barely can hear the other person talking. TV is of no use as very limited DTH channels and it’s not digital to play Youtube or OTTs. Wifi is available but signal strength in rooms are very weak. Our Airtel mobiles were on zero network, so be prepared for it. A swimming pool available but it has uniform depth (5 ft) & no kids pool which means bit risky for short people. Dining area available but no in house kitchen (except for hot/cold beverages). Room boys behaved well & service is quick. Reception staff and resort manager is very jovial & helpful. No resort activities available unlike others. Ample parking space. Don’t follow Google maps after you enter the narrow road to this resort especially when it asks for you to take a right downward turn instead look for directions put by resort on the way (bad mapping/tagging). Wishing you a...
Read moreWe started our end of the year tour planning quite late. Most of the popular places were already booked. After rigorous web search we found this place. It looked quite good, but only few reviews found. Tripadvisor had only 1 review, that too around 2 years old. I did not expected much, but since I was not getting other options available, I booked this one for two nights. Thought we would use it for sleeping at night and will travel all the day to other places.||When we reached there, it was quite late. The host called up few times to know our whereabouts and assured us for ready dinner. He explained about the property briefly and made all the necessary arrangements.||Next day we planned to visit to Jog Falls, but seeing this place we cancelled all our day trips and decided to stay and relax at this farm.||3 sides of this place is surrounded by Western Ghats which gives nice view. This place is not at all visible from the main road, you have to enter the place by unpaved roads (must be difficult during rainy season). Other than clean rooms/bathrooms, it has swimming pools / indoor games (TT, Pool Carom) / outdoor games (cricket pitch). Food was good. Staffs were courteous. They provide separate sleeping place for drivers.||Network is feeble (Few providers did not even has signal there). But when you have an awesome stay, who cares about network - just...
