Astagiri Homestay Chikmagalur — Hotel in Karnataka

So I was eagerly waiting for this trip to happen with my parents.our flights were booked on 6th Dec early morning from Mumbai to Mangalore. After multiple searches for accommodation and hotels in Chikmagalur, I zeroed down to this wonderful homestay which suited both my budget and has much more beautiful surroundings than other hotels.I coordinated through whatsapp with Vineed who handles the booking and arrangements,and is based out of Chikmagalur . Hes very active and efficient in his communication and replies to all queries patiently.He had arranged for cab to pick us up at morning 8.30 from airport. Muthu who came to pick us up was very polite and had good driving skills throughout. We reached AstaGiri by Borrbo at around 4.30 on the way we saw some waterfalls and few others. The positive aspect about living with a host family is getting a big welcome from Ushakka and Anithakka. We settled down and had a sumptuous lunch.Evening we went to Devaramane betta in an auto. Ushakka spoilt us with her awesome cooking next 3 days,which she made sure she attended personally and not allow anyone else.My dad demanded tea,coffee multiple times but she was patient throughout to cater to our needs.Specially my mom was a big fan of their estate having coffee plantations, various fruits, and her wine where there are variety of wine to offer for sale. .You will feel comfortable in the house and with the family gradually.Mrs Usha would also recommend the dos and dont's to visit.An early morning walk to the nearby farm is blissful. Theres a stream flowing near homestay, The trees and meadows will be at its best during evenings and early mornings. You will see lush greenery everywhere in monsoons ... There are numerous small waterfalls around.. .the only noise you can hear are the insects chriping. We booked this place for 2 nights but checked out after 1 night stay. The room did not have an attached bathroom, it was common. The other bathroom did not have a wash basin, or clothes hanger or anything. The third room bathroom wash basin pipe was leaking badly. The mattress still had the plastic sheet on so was very uncomfortable to sleep. It was a very hot day and no fan in the rooms, we had to sit and lie down in hall. The the staff family also stayed in the same villa we were accommodated in and kitchen was there too.so no privacy. There was no care taker present to guide us or take care of things. I had booked camp fire and barbecue earlier itself (for extra charges). But the day we arrived and confirmed on the same, we were told tat the meat and veggies will be given to us and we have to marinate and barbecue ourselves. Why then will I pay extra. After some debate, they said they will marinate but we have to do rest. Very unprofessional way of handling things. Who rents out a room without a bathroom?? Every single time we wanted something or during meal/tea times we had to go to the kitchen door, knock and wait on them to come out. There are 2 villas, the one we got had no proper amenities. So if you are booking this place pls check on the amenities in ur room. Usha was very helpful..food was tasty though...
