Black Hill Homestay Chikkamagalur — Hotel in Karnataka

My husband Biswajit, and I have been driving down India to see few parts of the vast country and Karnataka featured being one. In a few weeks we found ourselves in the Chikmagalur area and chose Black Hill homestay as our stay for 5 nights...I will rate this place for other fellow travellers as a home stay and not a hotel...

1. Room: It's humble, clean and well lit. The bed spread was clean and so was the wash room. We stayed in the first floor of the homestay. The view from the verandah was spectacular, it overlooked the black hill. So I will give it a 5 star..
2. Location: It's about 4 km from the Aldur road. For the first timer you may get a bit lost, but nothing to worry. Once you are in the homestay you will love everybit of the location. It's in the midst of several acres of coffee plantation, beautiful terrain, the blackhill overlooking the homestay. You wake up to the calls of the birds and you will continue to hear their calls throughout the day...it's absolutely amazing. Will definitely give it a 5 star.
3. Food : Sumptuous morning breakfast and dinner was served. The food in plenty, and very tasty. The portions you can't finish. The cook/ chef is the lady of the house herself, kind, generous and thoughtful. The cuisine both veg and amazing non vegetarian preparation. Again this homestay from us gets 5 star.
4. Hospitality: Here let me rate it 7 star. While everyone in the house is extremely kind and generous, Vishwas, the young man who is the elder son of the coffee estate owner really overwhelmed us with his behaviour. He is a wonderful human being, extremely hospitable, very sweet and kind in disposition. His driving skills though is a completely different affair. He drives like a boss. In his 4 wheel drive (jeep) he took us to show his plantation one evening and in another evening he drove up the black hill for us to see the sunset. The road in which he drove is pretty nonexistent, full of boulders and in steep slopes. It was a spectacular sight when we reached the top of Black hill - one of the best in the western ghats in our experience. And Simba their beautiful dog also needs special mention, friendly and lovely like the rest of the family...

We thank Vishwas profusely for making our stay in the western ghats such a memorable one.

This homestay is a must visit if you are choosing to visit Chikmagalur...and don't just stay there overnight... definitely be there for no less than 3 nights to experience this place. We overstayed.. for 5 nights and we hope to come back again.

This "Home stay resort" is located in between a large coffee estate which is 15 km away from Chikmagalur city. One can reach this place within 30 mins from the main city of Chikmagalur

It has turned out to be the best choice for me to spend my vacation stay here. There are 5+ rooms available which can accommodate up to 30 people overall.

This location has a surreal view around it & has great ambience surrounded by mountains. One would really enjoy the stay here. It has all the amenities to make your stay a very comfortable one. The rooms are very clean & hygienic. Beyond this you will have a great comfort from Mr. Vishwas who will take utmost care during your stay.

You can also go for a short off-road trip inside the coffee estate & nearby sunset point. Also you can go for a nature walk & trekking around. There will be night fire based on your request. You can also play games such as cricket, badminton etc for which kits will be available there.

Parking space : Sufficient parking space available for both 2 Wheelers & 4 Wheelers.

Food is ultimate, one should never miss to enjoy a fantastic home made one (regional authentic). They do serve your favourite food on both veg & non veg at a very reasonable price.

Pricing : Both for your stay & food, it worth your every single penny. It doesn't take a toss on your wallet.

Recently in mid june we had a tour at Chikmangluru. A beautiful hill station. We had our 4 nights stay at Black hill homestay. The property was nice. Location was superb and totally surrounded by green dence forest. Rooms were clean and tidy. We had got complete 3 BHK flat on the 1st floor. Each room has different capacity of beds. But each was self-contained. Food was tasty all the time. We had dinner and breakfast included in the package which was reasonable. In one room hot water problem we faced but the person named Vishwas had personally solved it. He is the owner of the property.His mother personally supervised on food preparation so it had a homemade flavour. We had a free coffee plantation tour by the Jeep and it was arranged by Vishwas. Other than Chikmanglur stay we had explored Belur and Halebidu. One Harekanlale lake was beautiful spot to spend one evening over there. Marvellous view we had seen on that evening. Baba Budangiri is a Dutta peeth and Mulayangiri is highest peak both spots are good to explore but not so best to recomend. Budangiri is ok for touring. Shrungeri Matt, Udupi, Malpe beach, Dharmasthal r other spots we covered...
