Being frequent travelers over the last decade and a half has allowed us to develop a keen sense of understanding the kind of vision the property management have or are striving towards.||It could be a mid level hotel (2/3 star) which have a clear understanding that they levy charges in the mid range and hence provide a mid level boarding experience or a Luxury hotel (4/5 star) with steep tariffs which understand what that means and provide a premium experience to their customers.||GLOBAL VILLAGE RESORT on the other hand left us utterly confused! There was no vision, the rooms scream opulence and easily equate with a decent luxury 5 star hotel barring a few minor details (we share these later). However any and everything else from housekeeping, FnB, breakfast, staff mannerisms and general upkeep were found wanting. Simply having well-designed rooms will not cut it, let alone justify the exorbitant prices charged.||As mentioned earlier if you wish people to have a great experience and recommend/revisit this resort you need to first understand what your deliverables are. You cannot charge prices of a metro five star hotel and have staff that are clueless to providing something as simple as Black coffee/Sunny side up fried eggs at breakfast.||You cannot charge a premium rate if there are no pool towels stocked and no person in sight to request for any assistance. You cannot have a restaurant that sends different items to the room just because they feel its similar (Had order Mutton ghee roast and got Mutton curry). ||You cannot wear the mask of a four/five star when your restaurant does not serve a single continental item as part of breakfast buffet offering. ||I repeat that the hotel rooms give of a feel of luxury and premium ness however almost everything else does not match up to this level. The management needs to decide on the segment they wish this hotel to feature in (Mid luxury, luxury or Super luxury) fix the pricing and then do a serious overhaul of the different departments they have and the purpose they serve. The staff of both housekeeping and the restaurant are begging for a bit of training. ||||Really sad that with our experience we could see that this resort could easily be a winner but just have all their basics wrong. We will now share the pros and cons of the resort to help our fellow travelers. ||||Pros ||Well-designed Room : Arabica : Modern fittings, Good Size, Comfortable bed, Small balcony with sit out, complementary snacks (basic stuff) and good Jacuzzi.||||Indore gaming zone : 2 racing games and a basketball game provide a nice touch. Other indore games like Table Tennis, snooker and carom also good.||||Bon fire : A decent sit out area prepared for the bon fire.||||Swimming pool : Good size and relatively well maintained except for insects.||Front desk : Smooth check in and check out. Adarsh provided a decent level of support.||||Room service: Speed of response is good.||||Cons||Bathroom: No separate shower section which means water goes everywhere around the washbasin and Jacuzzi.||||Breakfast: Probably the worst breakfast ever experienced. Untrained and uncouth staff that lack basic grooming go around providing little to no support to any guest. The buffet items include only basic Indian stuff and even essentials like coffee/tea run out every so often. There was no live counter for dosas or eggs. Senior management just sit in a corner not even checking on guests to see of everything is as per satisfaction. I guess they too have understood it’s a lost cause.||||House keeping : On day 1 of our stay they missed cleaning the balcony, did not replenish toiletries, towels or snacks. The bathroom was left wet and the carpet was not hovered. We informed them and they had it done and then the second day things were done better.||||In room dining : Prices - decent, quantity - alright ,quality – Not good. None of the dishes we ordered were authentic. We even clearly received alternate items like mutton curry instead of mutton ghee roast and Malai kebab instead of kali mirch kebab (Again very confusing).|||| Games room : Needs a bit of ventilation and a few games that were not working need to be rectified.||||Swimming pool : We were enjoying a peaceful swim when all of a sudden a guest starts blasting music on his personal boom box and no one said a word for over an hour. ||||All in all a pretty dismal experience considering the fact that the resort does not even give the Chikmanglur vibe since it touches the city. I guess the least they could do would be to serve decent coffee! ||||Lets hope that this does not fall on deaf ears and this resort can live to realize its...
Read moreVisited as family here. Rooms are spacious, and the resort is kid friendly. But the problem is in the room we stayed in, the bathroom stinked every time we flushed the toilet. There was definitely something wrong with the drainage. We addressed this to the manager, and he sent someone to fix it. He cleaned the sink and called another person for help. I requested that person (named Shanthanu)to remove his footwear as he was going to enter the washroom. He blatantly said no and said there were no rules like that. He was reluctant to enter without his footwear. It took nearly one precious hour to clean the sink. This all happened as soon as we checked in. That night, we faced frequent power cuts every half an hour, and I had to manually turn on the AC. I hardly slept that day. Again , the bathroom stinking problem started again. We requested the manager to change the room as we had a few problems with the room we were staying to , and the manager agreed. We packed our bags and kept them ready that afternoon for the housekeeping persons to shift it as we were heading outside . We came back in the evening, and the manager said there are no rooms available, and we can not shift it but promised that the bathroom will not stink anymore. The moment we used the bathroom, it was stinking again. We called the manager and asked him to inspect the sewage smell. Hr again took more than an hour with his people to put some acid in the sink. I told him everybody would book resorts to relax and rejuvenate . Here, the AC was giving problems, too, plus the bathroom. My son refused to enter it from day one as it was stinking badly. The manager was only apologizing but never came up with proper solutions. He said the next day he would change our room, which never happened again, and promised a complimentary dinner, which we didn't ask for it. That was the worst part. He informed them in dining people about it, and they purposefully delayed the food we ordered.it came after 45 minutes. We ordered butter prawns . The previous day, too, we had ordered the same for lunch. There were 9 pieces. That night, they just gave 4 prawns . Both my children were eagerly waiting for the prawns. We notified it to the dine in manager, and he said the prawns got over . He could have said it at the time of ordering itself. He did this intentionally, we ordered mutton roangosh, and there were 3 bone pieces again intentionally. It showed the resort manager, Mr. Shankar's cheap behavior . It was like take it beggars. Mr. Shankar came into the restaurant while we were ordering the food . He took the dine in manager outside and spoke to him about our complimentary food. Of course, we paid for the complimentary food at the end. When u pay a huge sum , we expect at least a few basic things. Honestly, our vacation got spoiled because of Mr. Shankar 's attitude and false promises. The washroom problem was a kind of fixed only on the second (we stayed 3 nights, and on the fourth morning, we vacated) day around 7 pm. By then our major part of...
