I am sharing an experience I had a couple of years ago at this homestay. This property is run by a family of three members who reside on the premises. They are inexperienced and do not understand how the hospitality industry works. Those in this business must either do it for money, maintaining a reserved demeanor without spending much time with guests, or with passion, giving their 100% to deliver what they have committed with friendly nature.
We were a group of seven members who stayed here for two nights. Our experience with the owners was utterly disappointing and horrible. Anyone on vacation would prefer peace of mind, but the lady ensured she spoiled our trip. On the first day, when we arrived in the afternoon, the lady had committed to serving food. However, there was a shortage of food, and she made statements like "I hope you can adjust," etc.
We thought maybe she did not anticipate seven people plus one driver, even though we were clear on the call. We gave her the benefit of the doubt and decided to be accommodating. In the evening, she had 101 reasons why she couldn't prepare food, insisting we adjust to what was prepared in the afternoon. She had deliberately prepared an excessive amount of rice, and we again decided there was no point in wasting food.
On day two, we decided to go trekking at Ethina Bhuja, which is about 12 km from the homestay. The lady suggested we finish our lunch near the trekking starting point. Her intentions became clear: she was both lazy and wanted to save on food expenses. Even though we had paid the full amount, including the food, we didn't want to behave as cheaply as she did.
While most of us decided to have lunch after our trek, one member of our group wanted to try local chicken. He called the lady and requested she prepare something, as she had committed. Instead, she started shouting, which is an unfair way to handle guests.
We let the matter go and returned to the stay. Upon our arrival, the lady argued that we were unplanned and making her work. Some polite girls in our group convinced her to relax.
The worst part occurred when the lady stood next to us while we were relaxing and randomly accused us of abusing her. We had to shout at her husband to bring things back to normal, which spoiled our mood.
These people do not understand the business and are only in it for money, which is fair, but business without authenticity is a problem. Even on the final day, when we planned to go trekking early in the morning, she made excuses, saying there would be wild elephants if we went out in the morning and that we shouldn't travel in the dark.
I have traveled to various parts of India and stayed in some of the best places, but this was one of the worst experiences I have ever had at any homestay. Upon checkout, the lady apologized and asked us not to write a negative review. However, the experience was so bad that I feel it's important to bring it to everyone's attention.
We have no complaints on the property and the scenic beauty, but the hospitality is a challenge.
I hope they have improved and learned some skills to handle guests.
Edit:
Sharing additional details as the owner claims what I have written is false allegation. This is their integrity level. This people are extremely greedy. After the response I went about doing more research and I was flabbergasted to look at the price on booking.com. Price per 1 person 1 night is 6k....

This review is my personal worst experience in this homestay, I gave 1 star for this homestay as it's the minimum we can give, Zero stars is perfect. As no tourist ever deserves to stay in this untidy, unclean place ever. Below I have listed the main issues we saw and faced - The Rooms are not at all clean, with cobwebs, water leakage and broken flush in the toilet.
The bed spreads and pillow covers smell bad, having unclean patches and yes, you can't sleep well in them.
We were given the top sheet rooms, that literally have opening spaces outside with no coverings and any insect, lizards and mosquitos can enter easily all around. The toilet flush is broken and the sheet above is leaking water onto the floor when it rains and zero cupboards to keep your things and floors wet.
The owner of the house is hostile and tries to convince you to stay in the same worst room giving reasons like, all below rooms are booked and please adjust, well we ain't here to adjust, but to enjoy our stay.
Plus none of the top sheet rooms are shown in the Google pictures, so be careful don't get fooled, for they will withhold your full advance by arguing and spoiling half of your day if you don't want to stay there. Our money was withheld and we got zero service from them.
The road to the homestay is also very confusing and very narrow, no direction boards to help you, plus on rainy days, the road gets sloppy and will be difficult for your car.
The below room offered to us was very small, even for 3 people, let alone four and the bathroom is inbuilt with no exhaust and all the smell can get into your room, plus the room was untidy and the smell was unhealthy and bad.
Finally, my personal opinion, stay away from this one, it isn't worth even your lastday-anyhomestay option too. Have a peaceful and relaxing trip, avoid at all costs. I know they will blame us in their reply, if at all they reply, but I have given you the...
Read moreI recently stayed at Kannachur homestay and unfortunately, my experience did not meet expectations.
Firstly, the cleanliness was subpar; I found dust in several areas and the bathroom was not properly cleaned(infact the commode was broken). The amenities advertised were lacking, with broken appliances and insufficient supplies. Also the rooftop was leaking when it started raining!
Communication with the host was also an issue; my messages often went unanswered, and when I did receive a response, it was unhelpful. Additionally, the location was misleading, as it was further from attractions than described, making it inconvenient for getting around. Finally she the owner did not refund the advance money, she was very rude and threatened us to leave the place.
Overall, I was quite disappointed and wouldn’t recommend this homestay to others. The owner is sacmmer, beware and do not visit this place if you want to save your time and your hard earned money!
To the response given below by the owner, i am replying in here,
She is claiming in that we were drunken! Madam go consult a good doctor, I guess you have some issues about judging people. Karma will not leave you at any cost and nevertheless, hope you had a mutton biryani from the money you...
