We stayed at Kipstay Coffea Cove for 5 nights this week and it was a great experience for us. For starters, we were not sure what there was to do for 5 days but at the end of our stay, I wondered how the 5 nights passed. ||First things first on the property. Its a nice cozy house perched in midst of coffee estates. There are 3 guest rooms and the family that owns the property stays along there. Nithin, the owner is a terrific host, very friendly and helpful. There is plenty of space to park your car and also for kids to run around or play football. The rooms are small but cozy and very functional. You get hot water round the clock. ||||Coming to food, there are not many options as the property is nestled away inside the estate and the roads are bit difficult to travel in the night. But the best part is you get to eat home cooked food that is simple south Indian fare and very tasty. The breakfast is also awesome with simple south indian dishes like idli, dosa, upma. One day we also got Holige which was simply great.||||About places to visit, the choices are few. You can go to Mullanyanagiri and also visit Jhari falls on the way to Baba Budangiri. We also made a trip to Belur and Halebeedu which are a must see. But you do have a choice to see them on your way back to Bangalore. But the property itself is great where you can unwind with a book, sip on coffee and spend time rejuvenating yourself. I would recommend a minimum of 3 night stay to properly enjoy your time there. ||Nithin also took us to a guided trek to a peak which was close to the property. Its a moderately difficult trek but at the end of it, the views of the surrounding hills make it worth the effort.||||Overall, it was a great stay, my first experience at staying in a homestay and even though the price per night is a little steep, I think its worth spending your time. Chikmagalur is a beautiful place with coffee plantations everywhere and Kipstay Coffea Cove makes sure you get to soak in...
Read moreIts a beautiful 150 yr old homestay with 4rooms(2standard rooms and other two for big groups/families), a dining hall and a beautiful common room(with BSNL WiFi) in the misty hills, amidst a coffee estate...around 18-20kms from Chikmagalur town. The winding road takes you up to the homestay with lush green coffee estates on both sides (last 100mtrs patch is little challenging for vehicles with low ground clearance), a perfect place for birdwatching, trekking and star gazing. Nithin and his family owns this place and they are very humble and caring towards their guests. We stayed there for two days and they really took great care of my 4yrs old daughter...we totally enjoyed our time at the estate. Nithins mom prepared mouth watering veg curry's with steamed rice and chapatis(there's no restaurant or bar in the near vicinity so one should inform the host in advance for lunch and dinner). Breakfast and coffee is included in the room tariff. Activities - One can simply roam around the coffee estate (just beware of leeches and snakes) Nithin suggested us a beautiful place nearby - Mallandur sunset point(10kms drive from estate). Homestay is a great place for people who simply wants a break from city life and want to enjoy nature...you can feel the dead silence of the jungle at night...can hear variety of bird calls and insects during dawn and dusk..or can even spot a snake in the bush.
Things to carry - Umbrella ☔ Extra pair of diapers and clothes for kids All generic medicines Chips and biscuit packets. Ofcourse camera and good quality tripod to capture beautiful scenes during mornings...
Read moreFirstly, I must say we had an amazing stay at this place. The host, Mr. Nithin was very helpful and supportive. Before booking I had called them to enquire about a few things like food, weather, and if the road is approachable to the homestay in a vehicle with low ground clearance. Mr. Nithin patiently answered every question and gave us the confidence to reach the place. The booking experience was very smooth.
Approach: Though the place is 12 kms away from the Chikmagalur town, the drive is amazing between coffee estates to reach the place. The last couple of kilometers is a little narrow, surrounded by coffee plantations, and the last mile is gravel road but is motorable (I was driving Honda City by the way. If this car can go, any car can go 😊).
Food: Breakfast was included with the package and was good. The host prepared amazing dosa chutney and we enjoyed the Kadubu (Malnad style). Then, the coffee - if you are a filter coffee lover, you can’t stop with one cup. I was told they use their own estate coffee beans for coffee powder. Since we were going out after breakfast, we did not opt for lunch or dinner. They do not serve liquor, but I was told we can carry.
Place: This homestay is within a coffee estate surrounded by lush green. The weather was amazing. The host took us for a small walk within the estate and it really was good walking between the coffee plants and huge trees. The rooms were clean and well maintained. Overall, I would recommend Kipstay, Chikmagalur for family and a...
