choice of place and rating is based on: this was peak of monsoon with daily almost 24x7 rain and this homestay is bang on highway (50m), so no challenges in heavy rain for reaching peace and tranquil place, surrounded by coffee plantations and you can hear rain and birds (and occasional traffic). there is a pond on downslope of the coffee plantation - it was full due to heavy rain. home cooked malnad food - being veg, we prefer home cooked traditional food clean air and water. divine to take bath in hot water that is coming from their wood fired water heater. rooms are clean. stayed 2 nights and it poured heavily day and night for both days, with small relief of 10-15 min in between, we played indoor games and took tons of rest. their balcony has a basket swing, bench and chairs to enjoy the weather and drink hot tea/coffee and eat bhajjis. food was awesomely tasty. basically family lives below and above 2 rooms (with attached baths), kitchen and living room space is available. they have big coffee plantation and you can see mango, coconut, jeera chilly, pepper, areca nut, guava, brinjal etc plants. owner, Mr Dinesh, has a spices shop on the main road and we bought local spices like pepper and cardamom. Both host and his wife are very caring and we could decide our food menu in advance - their son speaks english and hindi , so we managed with our broken kannada and his translations. visited Bettada Bhairaveshwara temple, which was a 3-4 hour trip due to heavy rain. read its reviews - awesome place to visit. on return journey, took detour from Belur to visit Sri Veeranarayana Swamy Temple (Trikutaachala) - amazingly beautiful statues of Lord Vishnu in 3 different avatars - place that gives immense peace and spiritual alignment just looking at the statues and sitting relaxed - its inside a village, so approach is good and we got great pictures of sunflower and marigold farms. BTW the DP here is not from this property - its probably some...

We went with family 8 of us with 10 months old baby. Evening he made arrangements for bonfire and we could sit around and also had a good drinks session. ||||I would recommend this place for family people, also bachelors as long you don't wanna have a peaceful stay and not into "galata".. Dinesh is very down to earth, but he is well connected in that area, so he assured if any problem we face just to give him a ring.||Cons: due to rainy season, he couldn't wash the quilts for us and it had the damp smell,,,, so recommend you to carry your own quilt, or check with him if they have been washed,,, rest everything is clean and tidy, and 8 to 10 people can stay easily.||||Place is near Mudigere and not chicamagalur, Chicamagalur is 45 min from here, if you have your own vehicle it doesn't...
